metal and fiberglass work. Keeping
Shelbys on the street is always a
worthwhile endeavor.
Since going out on their own, Rob
and Andy have maintained a good re-
lationship with Mid-Cities Mustang
and have received occasional work
from them. This ‘70 428 Cobra Jet
Mach I is one of the results of that re-
lationship.
These two new acquisitions, a ‘65
A-code GT 4-speed fastback and a ‘66
C-code fastback, are half of a four car
package deal they found in Houston.
It’s hard to imagine that someday
these cars might look like the cars on
the body dollies. Considering what’s
available today, the guys see anything
with straight frame rails and rockers
as a great starting place and potential
project car. The pictures are terrific
and they document the effort, but they
don’t do justice to the quality of the
work. When these cars move on to
their next phases, the very critical
metal work will have been done cor-
rectly and to perfection.
In the shop now are a ‘66 GT K-
code coupe, ‘68 390 4-speed coupe, a
‘65 A-code fastback, a ‘67 fastback, a
‘67 vintage race coupe and Rob’s ‘65
GT350 R-model replica.
“
Man… Now that I look back,
we’ve been busy.”
said Rob.
“And I did-
n’t even mention when we had three
Boss 429 cars in the shop at the same
time. It’s funny, now that I think of it,
I’ve got a pretty darn cool job!
”
Jealousy is usually thought of as
unbecoming, even unchristian like.
But hey, seeing what these guys are
doing and how much they enjoy doing
it, it’s just a bit of jealousy okay?
