Great video, thanks for sharing. Car has the perfect stance IMHO...

Hi John,

This thread might help....https://www.saac.com/forum/index.php?topic=24205.msg181211

This is what I ended up using, was in my jar of OE (& similar) type fasteners. Don't know if it's the correct cursive script bolt mentioned, just used it because it fit, although did have to shorten it ~1/4".

Quote from: Bob Gaines on April 15, 2026, 02:18:46 PMThat will work fine from a practical standpoint but I believe that if looking in the override hole under the car you would be able to tell the difference between that and the original one. Of course that would only make a difference if noticed in a concours judged venue.

Agreed. Guess I need clarification on one thing though...is the large OE triangular boot actually considered a parking brake handle boot? I've never seen one in person but from the photos they look too rigid to be functional for a moving handle, unlike the C6 and C7 truck boots shown in mine and Richard's photos. Regardless, it seem to be something that could be easily 3D printed.

Just for grins I installed the C6TZ parking brake boot mentioned in reply #4 onto an OE traction bar (underride) I had laying around, looks to fit nicely:

This is an NOS C6TZ-2A713-A park lever boot, I assume if they were used at SAI, something like this is more likely what was installed since it has a C6 part#.

There are a number of options out there you might be able to modify and get to work. These are for small block Chevy...

News from HQ / Re: Checkered Flag - Dave Friedman
March 15, 2026, 05:34:24 PM
Had a chance to talk with Dave about a year ago. I had questions about a specific photo taken at SAI and was hoping he either took, or at least had some knowledge about it. Said he'd be glad to help and gave me his personal email to send him a copy. Turns out it was taken after he left, but he was very kind and gave me all the time I needed to answer my questions. RIP Dave, and thanks again for the help!

The 3rd owner of 6S1757 started autocrossing the car right after he bought it in 1972 and road racing shortly after. He installed the D0ZX-5A772-A rear sway bar and D0ZX-5997-A panhard from the Boss 302 Chassis Modification book, both are still on the car today.

Agreed, but then again....you did say you wanted to 'Stir The Pot'  ;)

Quote from: Steve McDonald Formally known as Mcdonas on February 20, 2026, 04:22:26 PMHow about some other things that may or may not be true

2. Mirrors on Hertz cars were painted different colors to differentiate between airports. I was told by Ed Waterman in 1972 that he had seen these when he worked at DC's National Airport in the 66-67 time period. He said that Baltimore and Dulles used different colors. This is the original mirror off 6S1431 which was used at National Airport. Was this unique to the 3 airports near DC/Baltimore? Was it used at other areas? Has anyone besides me have a painted rear-view mirror with a painted back?

Check out the second photo in my opening post from this thread....https://www.saac.com/forum/index.php?topic=2373. Car was rented in Seattle during the summer of 66.

Quote from: tesgt350 on January 22, 2026, 03:45:39 PMHow early was JM's Shelby?  Did it have an S in the Ford VIN?  Did it have the scribed Z in the Shelby VIN? Who said the Car was actually "Totaled"?

Jimmies car probably did have the Z stamped on it

The Z stamped cars were generally built after April 27, 1967, and continued through the rest of the 1967 model year.

Probably a few exceptions with out the Z

But since this car has evaporated...we may never know

To be continued

Morrison's car was completed 3/20/67 but not originally shipped until 6/27/67.

Based on their asking prices for everything I agree, scam. I mean $39,900 for a 69 Z/28 RS?
