The asphalt wire covering can be purchased online.  It's not very difficult to replace.  The contact wire inside the light socket can be snipped off and the wire pulled out of the assembly.  New covering slid on and a new contact end crimped on.

SO what does the Bible say about this car?

Present owner/whereabouts unknown.

Perfect!  That's exactly what I needed.  Now I just need to find the fitting for it.

The breather hose connection to the air cleaner base is made into the base, not a separate piece.

Up For Auction / Re: SFM6S1716 at Mecum Dallas

There's good and bad cars at auctions.  Just like buying outside of an auction, interested buyers should do their due diligence and come to their own conclusions based on in-person inspections.  If in-person is not possible, hire someone out to look it over.

Not only that, but the car "needs restored."

That irks me more than 'cash money', lol!

I believe that "Black Stripe" by the Door Handle is a Plastic Piece on the Door Lip to protect it from Dinging something and chipping the Paint.

Correct, they were put on at the Ford assembly plant.  Can be seen on other period photos at Carter St./Venice and LAX.

Best to start a new topic if wanting to discuss the car in the picture.  BTW, the VIN of 003 is SFM5S003... it had an S as the VIN wasn't assigned until later, which by then the S and R designation was being used.

I am using the Holley/S7MS combo.

That will have the thinner black phenolic spacer with PCV hose fitting at the back.

Best to find a local auto trim/upholstery shop for something like this.  Might be a local Mustang/Shelby club local that can give recommendations.

Very nice restored Hi-Po distributor 5MB (December 1965, 2nd week).  Completely cleaned and detailed, machined surfaces as original.  New primary wire, motorcraft condenser, replacement points.  Tested/tuned on Sun distributor machine, curve chart included.  $1500 shipped to US address.

Ugh, sorry to hear.  I assume you've let Steve know about it.  Any chance they have video surveillance?

I didn't know SFM5S269 was actually for sale.

Bill

I think he bought a K code fastback from the estate and found paperwork for the Shelby in the glovebox?

For those considering this show:

The Shelby Concours judged portion is an official SAAC national concours event:
-National SAAC Concours show classes available
   -National SAAC Judging sheets used
-National SAAC Judges will judge cars
-National SAAC Awards will be/count the same as a SAAC national convention

This is a great second option for owners with Concours level cars that might not have been able to attend a national convention.
