Yeah, eBay does some weird stuff like that now... if I was searching for '1965 Ford mustang door latch', I would also have to do something like '-(chevrolet, buick, dodge)' and that would cut it down quite a bit.

In ebay advanced search, can exclude a seller ID.  Not useful for casual searches, but any saved searches, works well.

The shock caps should have fine threads for 65-66.

'66 Mustangs with the BW 4sp would normally have a tag, HEK-AD if I remember right.

Wow, thanks for the recommendations, much appreciated!

I have some original leaf '66 springs that need a slight tweak on the arching.  Anyone know a place on the US east coast that still does this kind of work?

Thanks

Those strut rods are a real head-scratcher though, glad to see the owner/restorer was more concerned w drivability than concours-correct. Very few of us left seeing street duty.

Maybe done out of frustration to adjust caster enough for the tires not to rub the fenders?  Doesn't look like any other mods made underneath the car other than they left grease zerk fittings in the LCA's.

SFM5031 was the last '65 before the S/R designation.

Quote from: 5F09K on May 13, 2026, 01:29:48 PMI'm holding out for NOS or original used pieces. I'm not really interested in the 'repro' stuff for this project.

That will be a tough find.  I've only ever seen one NOS system and it's on a thoroughbred level '65 K convertible.

Is it all/mostly original with low miles?

These cars seem to be sensitive to miles and repaint.  Value also seems to follow production numbers, like the early Shelby's.  Low production numbers or colors/options may be worth more.

Appeals / Re: 289 rear main seal question.

I worked on a car with this conversion last year, the seal leaked.  I replaced it with a new seal, just like the one that came off, used the recommended sealer/lube and it leaked after a few weeks.

The thing I don't like about the conversion is once it's done, there's no going back to original.  The back of the block is machined and you're at the mercy of the skills of the machine shop doing this job and hope they don't screw something up... a bit risky, especially with an original VIN stamped block.

On the original 2 piece, I've had good luck using OEM seals, the later Ford ones had a C9ZZ service number.

Looking for an original 65-66 fastback interior belt molding center joint.  This is the small piece above the trap door opening where the 2 metal moldings come together.  Held on with a single oval head chrome screw.

Thanks

For 65-66 Mustang, the -C would only be for a rear shock with handling package.  Front shocks with handling package would be -B.
