Quote from: chipsdad56 on January 19, 2026, 07:25:57 PMAutomatic and it's a fastback. I don't think it matters much whether the console is fastback or convertible so I would take either.  Thanks.
according to Branda's catalog and the unique Shelby parts catalog they are diff but I'm sure both will fit one body style. There were 6 part numbers in 68 for consoles

Was the vin restamped or stamped where missing characters might not have been stamped in the first place? Metuchin workers sucked back then. Ask me how I know....

Quote from: Brian350 on January 28, 2026, 06:44:40 PMHave any of you added air conditioning to your 69/70? I'm still shopping for a car, but if it doesn't come  with air, I'd like to add it, I live in Las Vegas...
if you ever get one and want to add air back in 1990 a friend pulled a  setup out of a 69 Mustang in SoCal. No compressor as too heavy to ship and I was going to buy a new one anyways. I was going to add it and a lot of other options I accumulated for my 70 GT350 vert but when Marti and Eminger reports came out I shelved the idea. Not advertised anywhere either. Just sitting in my attic.

Quote from: 65cobra on January 19, 2026, 11:31:51 AMI was there and hung out with some friends on the forum.  several deals were had, the 68 krs were a little weak, black ac auto, very nice car, it had some easy to swap back "upgrades" like 4 wheel discs and efi  a red 4 speed etc.  My bigger surprise was almost no premium for really correct concours cars, I am no expert but several went through with judging documentation.  Over restored correct looking cars pulled the same or more money.  and the delta between a driver unrestored car (that functions but needs everything) was only like 20%  Like 20-50k  so much better off buying a nice done car.  The 65s came out of the woodwork and everyone was hoping for close to a mil like the one that sold last year and most did not sell.

the 69 black jade scj pulled great numbers the owner was super friendly and outgoing and was by his car from friday on you could tell he was meticulous in caring for it, he said he put it on his 4 post and cleaned it after every drive and I believe him!  It was an example of a correct but over restored, as in beautiful paint arrow straight panels .  I was a little dubious at first because some body panel date codes were smoothed over in the paint process (I did find some legit codes, so no question in my mind it was the original body)  but just an example of a great seller that shared his passion with the people that came and looked at it and he was in a tent in the back.

not an expert here but that was my impression
I went looking and could not find that black jade 69 drag pack Shelby or Mustang. You got a link to the car? Thanks.

Quote from: Leterip on January 23, 2026, 03:27:10 PMI have seem some references to a light in the interior of the trunk of a GT350.  However i am not sure if that is the actual fact.
Does anyone know if this was an accessory and of so how was it set up?
The trunk light and wiring were installed before the 2 halves of the trunk lid were bonded together. Then the bullet end of the trunk lid was taped to the underside of the deck lid and the lid was painted. Therefor you would have paint on your wiring looms and IIRC also on the trunk light bracket as see in Mr. Gaines' pic of the white decklid. So original cars would have an unpainted spot generally on the underside of the lid where the bullet end was taped.

I hear the car is still around and believe it. On another note people keep saying titles. I thought California didn't have titles back then just pink slips. Same thing?

Quote from: camp upshur on January 20, 2026, 11:55:45 AMBeen trying to contact Jack for weeks on the company phone/email without response.
Has anyone had better luck recently?
Thanks!
try calling. Because of the nature of his biz it is hit or miss if he picks up. Dealt with Jack a few times last year. He rebuilt my original WP for my 68 GT500 last year.

Never seen one on a regular production Shelby and I've seen a lot.

Is there really a thing as "early production" 68 Shelby Lucas lamps? Since Marchals were used into at least Feb 1968? Marchals were installed  at AO Smith on my car when converted in Feb.1968

Quote from: gt350shelb on January 10, 2026, 12:10:43 PMSo what ever happened to the " other bullet mustang"    \\  you know the one kevin marti blessed as being the real car ?
I heard the whole story right out of Kevin's mouth many years ago. With his stature in the car community I highly doubt this would be anything but legit.

Bob, to be clear when you say you use it over multiple finishes are referring to the red layout dye or the opaque staining color.thanks as always. Gary

Concours Talk / 15x5.5 11-66 wheels
January 10, 2026, 04:06:53 PM
So I got a bunch of steelies and going through them today I found some observations on my 15x6 wheels as far as offsets go. When I bought my 68 that was sitting since 1973 it had SNOW tires on the back. After getting the tires off of them and having a blaster blast them(a friend did all this for me) I found those 2 with snow tires to be 11-66 KH wheels. 15x5.5. Can someone tell me the applications these wheels were used on? My other 15x6 non Shelby wheels are 1969, 1970 and 1971 with the center hole being larger and about a 1/4" negative offset compared to my 68 Shelby wheels. Thanks. Gary

Quote from: shelbymann1970 on January 10, 2026, 01:38:36 PMI've seen discussions before but not sure if here or other places but a search here doesn't come up with answers. I got the "see through" red Dykem lay out die. Now its been discussed about the opaque red die like I see on so many fasteners that AMK sells. So  is the first pic the die layout ink? Then the next 3 pics an opaque stain? I thought I read where the opaque was used on  certain finishes because of the plating?  The link is to a Dykem opaque staining color. Thanks in advance. Gary

The finish look can be different depending on the dye uderlaying finish . A example is the dye over a zinc phosphate nut looks different (dull) compared to one with zinc silver . zinc dichromate gold has a different yet look.
Thanks Bob. I remember that, So are you using the same dye over every fastener that gets the red safely coating? I have used only the red layout dye but do you use the opaque on finishes that the "clear red dye" won't take to"? I  think phospate was an issue? Thanks, Gary

S I just set the end caps back on the convertible they cane off of. I find no difference of them being on either car so my opinion they are the same .
