Is there really a thing as "early production" 68 Shelby Lucas lamps? Since Marchals were used into at least Feb 1968? Marchals were installed at AO Smith on my car when converted in Feb.1968

With his stature in the car community I highly doubt this would be anything but legit.
Quote from: Bob Gaines on January 10, 2026, 03:22:34 PMThanks Bob. I remember that, So are you using the same dye over every fastener that gets the red safely coating? I have used only the red layout dye but do you use the opaque on finishes that the "clear red dye" won't take to"? I think phospate was an issue? Thanks, GaryQuote from: shelbymann1970 on January 10, 2026, 01:38:36 PMI've seen discussions before but not sure if here or other places but a search here doesn't come up with answers. I got the "see through" red Dykem lay out die. Now its been discussed about the opaque red die like I see on so many fasteners that AMK sells. So is the first pic the die layout ink? Then the next 3 pics an opaque stain? I thought I read where the opaque was used on certain finishes because of the plating? The link is to a Dykem opaque staining color. Thanks in advance. GaryThe finish look can be different depending on the dye uderlaying finish . A example is the dye over a zinc phosphate nut looks different (dull) compared to one with zinc silver . zinc dichromate gold has a different yet look.

Quote from: CompRed70scj on January 02, 2026, 08:08:01 AMI just installed the Repops versions, and am not impressed. Their kit is for a 1970, so it mounts differently. It will flop around unless I drill a hole in my doors to screw in the ends.I bought the 68s and 69s sets off of Brant last year. Here was his post here. He may still have the pass side available. https://www.saac.com/forum/index.php?topic=30657.msg219096#msg219096
Quote from: Special Ed on December 29, 2025, 08:31:08 AMJust make sure u have the correct vert frame brackets first as back years ago we did lots correcting on an older 70 gt 350 vert only to find out the rubber and frame brackets were wrong. So on the 69-70 gt 350 verts they use the big block frame brackets and different engine rubber mounts than the 69-70 gt 350 fastbacks. The gt 500 verts also take a different rubber mount the c7za-k red color code than the fastbacks. The c7za-k rubber mount has a hollow hole in the center and the fastbacks dont.here are some pics of what we are looking for. I was lucky to buy an NOS set off of Fred Ballard many years ago for my 70 Convertible.
