Messages - 69 GT350 Vert

My 1968 bracket is restored and includes rubber inserts.  I'd like to find a 69/70 in the same condition. Upper bracket only.  Lower brackets excluded.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Fan spacer correct length
February 23, 2022, 03:55:03 PM
I'm converting to a 24 inch radiator and plan to use a C8SE-B flex fan, which I believe was originally used for 351W with 24 inch radiator.  What is the correct length for the fan spacer for this application? Thanks.

Good Lawd, I can do that in 45 minutes !

By the way I have reported you to the "Shelby Police" for posting that picture with an unauthorized,  non concours "OBJECT" on your intake

I put the air cleaner back on.  It's all better now!   :)

Concours Talk / Re: apron VIN stamp
February 08, 2022, 10:14:10 PM
I suggest talking to Brett Matteson at cape cod mustangs about impact to value - he has bought and sold a ton of Shelbys.

If the car has a junk or salvage title, I would think the value of the car is cut in half.  That is JMO based on what I would want to pay for a salvage title Shelby.  If it is not a salvage title, I would think the value would be impacted very little if it was repaired to a very high standard even if the VIN stamp is missing on only the Right side, but is present on the left side fender apron.  I don't think it is worth the risk of grafting a VIN into the fender apron.

This is the quartz movement I installed 5 years ago.  It works great.

I did Gary.  The parts still look the same almost 6 years later.  Really nice detail work.

I had vacuum ornametal restore my instrument and clock bezels as well as my console inert on my 69 shelby back in 2017.  The paint and finish work turned out very good.  However, he failed to fix the broken plastic tabs on my console insert.  I installed a quartz movement on my clock myself and it has worked perfectly for at least 3 years.

https://www.instrument-specialties.com/ restored my console gauges and did a great job.  They have the exact artwork for the Faria gauges and use the correct greyish blue background color.  At least they did on mine.

I just put 4 cooper cobra 235 60 15s on my 69 gt350 and love them.  The cooper cobras have a higher speed rating than the BFGs.

Slightly off topic, but relevant to value.  Any car that had rust repair or body panels replaced is a larger reduction in value than unoriginal engine/transmission in my opinion.  Replacement engines always fit the same as originals.  Not true for floor pans, rear quarters, etc. Even if the panels fit, were they installed properly? Was some rust missed?
