1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Brake Pads
February 24, 2026, 10:03:26 AM
I put 1,000 miles/year on my convertible.  Brake dust on the front rims is becoming a bit of a problem.  Does anyone have a recommendation for low-dust pads?  Thanks.

I looked at this car in Sarasota, FL last Saturday.  Number 1947.  Gulfstream Aqua.

Beautiful paint, but reproduction fenders and other issues.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Photo Reqest - Firewall
December 12, 2025, 10:05:12 AM
Does anyone have a photo of the punch out in the firewall for the clutch rod for a '69 Shelby?  I'm looking for a photo from an automatic car that has not had the punch out removed yet.  Thanks.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Door Data Tag
June 05, 2025, 09:36:56 AM
My original tag has seen better days.  All of the black paint and wording is gone.  I'm thinking about ordering a shiny new one from Marti, but I'm thinking it will hurt the car's authenticity.  I'd consider using the new tag that was included with my Marti Report, but the date doesn't match the original tag.  Ironically, the marti date is more accurate because my engine tag says it was built in December.

Opinions welcome on whether having a shiny new tag hurts authenticity.

Thanks.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Water Outlet Plug
May 09, 2025, 03:15:49 PM
Is this what the plug should look like for a 1969 351W with Automatic Trans and Without A/C?

Does anyone know the thread size I need to buy?

Thanks.

My 1969 shop manual shows for a 351W without AC, there is not a distributor vacuum control valve in the waterneck.  Is that correct?  I thought all cars had one.

It looks like the distributor vacuum advance in my 69 GT350 was designed to receive full manifold vacuum.  Not ported/timed vacuum.

The Carpenter repro is too long and caused needle shake.  I believe I need C9ZF-17260-C. My original is leaking due to burn marks.

What product can I use to touch up the peeling on my original handle?  Thanks.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Dealer Tag

What possible reason would a dealer tag on a car not match the dealer the car was originally shipped to?

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Original or Not

Is this convertible top original?  Same question for the front seat cover?

How can you tell?

Thanks.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / 1970 Front Spoiler ID
August 06, 2023, 07:23:35 PM
Is there a way to identify an original front spoiler for a 1970 shelby?  Were the shelby spoilers different from the spoilers on Boss or Mach 1's?

Thanks.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / FMX Issue
January 09, 2023, 08:43:56 AM
In the past 6 months or so, my FMX doesn't want to downshift into first gear when engine/trans is cold.  I find the car starts out in 2nd or 3rd gear at stop signs when cold.  Anyone know what I can do to fix this?  Fluid and filter change?  Thanks.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Bolt's Purpose
July 09, 2022, 01:35:07 PM
Does anyone know what this bolt with the star washer on the cowl is holding up?  See the blue arrow in the photo.  I want to remove and clean the bolt, but I don't know what it is holding up.

Thanks.

My 1968 bracket is restored and includes rubber inserts.  I'd like to find a 69/70 in the same condition. Upper bracket only.  Lower brackets excluded.
