Topics - 69 GT350 Vert

The Carpenter repro is too long and caused needle shake.  I believe I need C9ZF-17260-C. My original is leaking due to burn marks.
What product can I use to touch up the peeling on my original handle?  Thanks.
1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Dealer Tag

What possible reason would a dealer tag on a car not match the dealer the car was originally shipped to?

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Original or Not

Is this convertible top original?  Same question for the front seat cover?

How can you tell?

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / 1970 Front Spoiler ID
August 06, 2023, 07:23:35 PM
Is there a way to identify an original front spoiler for a 1970 shelby?  Were the shelby spoilers different from the spoilers on Boss or Mach 1's?

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / FMX Issue
January 09, 2023, 08:43:56 AM
In the past 6 months or so, my FMX doesn't want to downshift into first gear when engine/trans is cold.  I find the car starts out in 2nd or 3rd gear at stop signs when cold.  Anyone know what I can do to fix this?  Fluid and filter change?  Thanks.

My 69 GT350 Convertible survived a direct hit by hurricane Ian.   We built a new house on a barrier island in SW Florida.  Fortunately it was built to 160mph wind standard.  I evacuated for 10 days, and when I got back no damage or flooding to the shelby or the house.   Houses built in the 1970s lost their roofs across the street from me. Feeling lucky!  My house is just below the blue dot in the photo.
1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Bolt's Purpose
July 09, 2022, 01:35:07 PM
Does anyone know what this bolt with the star washer on the cowl is holding up?  See the blue arrow in the photo.  I want to remove and clean the bolt, but I don't know what it is holding up.

My 1968 bracket is restored and includes rubber inserts.  I'd like to find a 69/70 in the same condition. Upper bracket only.  Lower brackets excluded.
1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Fan spacer correct length
February 23, 2022, 03:55:03 PM
I'm converting to a 24 inch radiator and plan to use a C8SE-B flex fan, which I believe was originally used for 351W with 24 inch radiator.  What is the correct length for the fan spacer for this application? Thanks.
1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Front sway bar diameter
September 27, 2021, 05:32:52 PM
My early car #100 finished in December 1968 currently has a 13/16 or 21mm diameter away bar.  It has a green paint daub.  Is it possible this bar came on my small suspension car?
This hood was restored by Shelby fiberglass guru Dave Topper.  It is currently located in central PA, and can probably be delivered to the Carlisle Ford Nationals next week.

$4,000.  I have invested more into this hood than the asking price.

1969-1970 Boss 302/429 / 1970 Boss 302 Suspension
October 11, 2020, 12:21:49 PM
What suspension mods were done from the factory on a Boss 302 that made them sit lower and handle better than say a 1969 Shelby or a 1970 Mach 1?  I've read they handled better, but I don't really know what parts helped with that.  I know the B2 had F60 tires, but so did the big suspension 1969 Shelbys.  Did the B2s have the arning drop as well, and is that why the fender lips needed to be rolled?

My first auction.
I achieved excellent results with cold starting, no fuel percolation, perfect air/fuel ratios from idle to wide open throttle, elimination of hard hot restarting by installing a Holley Sniper EFI system.  My spark plugs are a beautiful light tan color 2 years, and 2,000 miles after install.

I did not drill any holes or modify my car in any way to install this system.  A big help is the use of an aftermarket fuel tank with a built-in electronic fuel pump that fits perfectly and works with the Sniper.  It is OEM quality with baffling built in.  The supply and return lines are located in the factory fuel sender location.  I searched for a month to find this tank.  All others required holes to be drilled since the fuel lines came out of the top of the tank inside the trunk.  That was unacceptable to me.  Thankfully, I found this tank and it was less than $300.  A home run.

If you drive your car using ethanol fuel, and want it to start and run like your daily driver, this system can be installed for approximately $1,500.  It was the best classic car modification I have ever made.  Throttle response is so good now it blows me away.  Air fuel ratios are always perfectly maintained, as are the target idle speed you set with a touch screen pad.  I can monitor air/fuel ratio and coolant temperature at all times using the small screen I keep in my center console.

The computer is located in the throttle body itself.  That provides the advantage of all wiring is hidden under the big air cleaner.  There are no separate boxes to mount under the dash or on the firewall, etc.  All you need is a wideband O2 in one side of your H pipe, a coolant temp sensor, and power connections.  I ran the blue power wire to the in-tank fuel pump through the interior so it is invisible from under the car.  That took some time to remove the interior.

Here are a few photos of my install.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Lowering springs ?
August 05, 2020, 10:15:26 AM
My car started sitting lower in the rear recently.  The lowering in rear started about the same time that I installed my rebuild engine that has more power than stock.

Would front 1 inch front lowering springs make it sit even? What brand and model springs have others used?  I have the original front and rear springs on the car now. Thanks
