Fabulous find.  If you do a search, you'll run into the various ways to cut the bottom out to hide a new battery up inside.

Yep, for whatever reason, seems my Hemmings Muscle car mag arrived a little late.  Makes me wonder about some of the "other" makes and thier correctness.  On the other hand, who is it that said "there is no bad publicity"?

Ya know, some of you same "posters" maybe should concider buying a Corvette and being done with this.
Now, in my Walter Mitty life, when I think about the next one, will it be a 289 Cobra kit car, or, a 32 Ford on 29' rails with 289 motivation.  Can't decide.
     Said a guy with a real 67 GT 350, and...I'm also building a Tribute GT 500.

Some of the reasons folks think "black" is due to the aftermarket MagStars being sold by other suppliers were black.  And also when it was do-able to rerim the MagStars seems the centers came back black.

When you get past this part, then you have to decide which of the three or four ways your car's tail lights were wired at Shelby American.  There has been proir post scovering this but, you'll need to be cognisant of your car's build date at S/A

Concours Talk / Re: 289 Hi-Po timing chain
May 21, 2020, 03:58:00 PM
So far, thanks for these replies.  I bought a Cloyes 9-1135 (double roller) timing set.  In the past 24 hours I have slipped it together and yes, the double roller chain will rub the 289 Hi-Po counterweight.  I also measured the chain that was in the car.  It is 0.635 wide, the new Cloyes double roller is 0.890 wide.
So it seems if I buy a chain set with the chain that is not a double roller I can have the crank gear milled to fit in and not have a chain that will rub the extra counterweight.  The thickness of the counterweight flange is 0.154.  Seems to me there might be room between the chain and the counterweight.  I'll keep us posted on the solution.
One reason I'd like a new set (both gears and chain) is due to the car being now 52 years old, and this is the 2nd chain I've put in.  The first one was the lousy plastic/aluminum gear Ford put in when it was new.

PS: the Shelby bracket is different from the Mustang bracket.

Concours Talk / 289 Hi-Po timing chain
May 20, 2020, 05:45:34 PM
I just ordered a new Cloyes timing chain set for my 67 GT 350 from Summit.  Seems it isn't going to work due to the extra crankshaft counter weight the Hi-Po's have.  Summit lists 29 different sets.  None say specifically for the 289 Hi-PO.  Yes, they do say small block Ford.
OK, now what?  Any part number assistance is appreciated.

Rick, you still have many more miles left.  Good to hear you are still with us.

  Really entertaining.  Thanks.

The tail light panel: ah, seems the 4 mounting posts are missing at each end of the tail light opening.  That in particular suggests that part might be a repop.

I'll remain clueless.  Cars shake, twist and rattle.  So, even with the pressure described, what prevents the tension from rubbing the chrome off of the hood pin...when that is where the judges will look.

I cut the circles out of used milk jugs and it worrks.  You're welcome.
