I believe most if not all new, brake hardware is made in China.  Have not noted one brand being superior to another.  I typically buy Raybestos product as they historically had been one of the OEM suppliers.  When rebuilding brakes I disassemble wheel cylinders and calipers.  Inspect cylinder walls for flaws and surface finish. Inspect flare seat and threads.   Deburr any sharp edges.  Prime and paint non mating surfaces.  Reassemble with Raybestos silicone assembly lube.  Insure cylinder walls and seals are fully coated.  Use nickel anti seize on self adjuster threads, bleed screw threads, supply line threads, and all rub points.  Brake shoe and pad vendors are personal preference.  Lot of hype.  I have been satisfied with Centric and Raybestos.  Like to find a vendor for thin, plastic shim to assemble between the axle flange and brake drum.  PIA to disassemble after 10+ years.

vtgt500, I'v attached a link to the worlds best hardware store/supply (McMaster Carr) regarding the plastic sheet that you want to keep your brake drums/axle flange interface from sticking together.  The choice is yours regarding thickness of material. I think that you'll find other "stuff" that suits your fancy at this hardware store.

Happy hunting

I, too, had problems opening the link a few years ago when I acquired Bob's article. Somehow I was able to get/make a PDF copy of the article.

Attached is a copy of my copy for all to have.

Thanks to all for your quick replies! Does anyone know of a source for new cylinders (with little tiny bleeders) or, if not, restorable cores?

Thanks so much for the help.

Guys, what is the correct bore diameter for the rear wheel cylinders on a GT-350H (built in the mid-November/December time frame)?

Thanks in advance for your help.

This is yet another example of the high caliber craftsmen the SA highered back in the day.

The statement that this is "painful" is quite accurate.

Guys, I've listed my J64-dated Hipo fan in the Swap Meet section in hopes of trading it to someone that has a fan more suited to my application, i.e. a fan dated in the H/J/K65 time frame (my engine assembly date is November 2, 1965).

My questions are:

Am I searching for non existent date-coded fans? Is this another item that falls in the category of a "batch" manufactured part due to relatively low production needs (like air cleaner bases)?

If so, what are your opinions regarding a "correct" fan date for my application?

What does YOUR car have for a fan date in the same time frame that my engine was assembled?

Any/all help would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your comments.
