The SHELBY AMERICAN

Spring 2019 19

MASTER EAGLE EYE SMACKFEST CONTINUES

We keep asking ourselves, as we’re sure you do, how long can this last? These

three master eagle eyes are setting such a high bar that it’s not likely any

young peckerwood could pop up and challenge them at this level. And when

will one or two run out of steam so we can crown an ultimate winner? It’s

beginning to remind us of one those 1920s dance marathons.

Young had his nose in some kind of

electronics catalog and spotted this

Cobra surveillance system. Not that

he would need one. Who would

bother putting security cameras in

a junkyard.

You never can tell where this stuff

will turn up. Hutchinson’s friends

were visiting China on a Christmas

vacation and found this 30˝ x 5˝ sign

in a fleamarket in Beijing. They

brought it back for him. We suspect

it’s found a permanent spot in his

house.

If we didn’t know better we’d say that

Dr. Warren has one of these Shelby t-

shirts that he passes around his office,

to patients and staff, to be pho-

tographed in so he can maintain his

master eagle eye status. But we know

better. More likely the t-shirts can be

found on the $2 table at the local Wal-

Mart. Pictured is Clint, one of his

nurses, who showed up to work wear-

ing one the other day. He knows what

side his bread is buttered on.

Young discovered this poster in his

archives.

CARtoons

magazine pro-

duced a poster of one of their covers

depicting the 1968 LeMans race be-

tween a Gulf GT40 Mirage and a

Ferrari 330 P4.

Young spotted the GT350 in this ad

for a garage that specializes in clas-

sics, hot rods and customs.

Doc Warren received this Christmas

card from one of his patients. He

was quick to spot the one Shelby in

all of those Mustangs. It was also

one of the smallest.

Whoever put together this eBay ad for

a custom rollback truck knew it would

attract attention by putting a bright

red Cobra replica on the back. And

Warren’s attention was certainly at-

tracted. The ‘49 Ford cab is mounted

on a ‘92 Chevy 1-ton chassis. It’s pow-

ered by a Cummins diesel. We’re sure

that as soon as Warren saw the picture

he began envisioning owning this rig

with his CSX4000 sitting on the back.
