1969 Shelby Slop Gray floor color

Restoring a 1969 Hertz GT350. Been looking around at the slop gray color layout on he bottom of the Dearborn built cars. Seems to be all over the place as to how it was done. anybody come up with a close version of the paint code?  thanks

There is no paint code.

The term "slop" is referencing primer mixed with left over body color paints.

There is no way to determine the exact color, because it changed on a regular basis. Red Oxide was also used.

If you need information as to where the primer was sprayed, thats a different matter.

+1  . To add - the most common range IMO was predominantly gray mixed with a little metallic besides all the other recycled paint usually mixed in. Hard to get this one wrong. If you wanted to get a idea you could get a spray can of slop gray painthttps://www.npdlink.com/product/engine-compartment-paint-under-hood-medium-slop-gray-aerosol/107680 to spray on a paint card as a starting point.

Of course it is the best choice to reproduce a color from a good sample of your cars original finish since the tints and colors can vary. Even had some periods where the firewall rearward was painted a red oxide sealer but that depends on when the car was built at Dearborn as Pete mentioned. Remember that the vast majority, earlier cars verses the a limited number of very late cars, had the surfaces from about the firewall forward coated with the red oxide primer sealer. Smooth and somewhat shinny rather than the flat and open pore stuff some spray

I've using a base for the firewall reward section of the 69's using a VW exterior color then tinted bluish or greenish depending on what I want the finished product to look like but as mentioned there
