Last post by 7777kx - June 19, 2026, 03:06:04 AM
Would any Forum member/user know of a low mileage, mint condition 2006 Hertz car available to purchase?
I owned one some years ago and would like another, if possible?
I am based in the UK and have been involved with Shelby cars for nearly 50 years and can supply USA references.

Because the original black trim pieces were plastic, not fiberglass like the Branda Kit, yours are likely original because they are plastic.  Because of their age, they tend to warp and that is when owners like to replace with new straight pieces.  The aluminum molding is probably original as well, guilt by association to the plastic pieces.  The plexiglass if original probably has some grazing, showing it age and authenticity.  I'd say, base on your story and the what you have shown us, they are original.  Value is a harder one to determine.  At least a couple of hundred dollars.  Maybe double a Branda kit.

Hope that helps.

Cory

The exterior aluminum trim That SA used was Brite dip anodized from the MFG. That is a special type of clear anodizing the automotive industry uses on aluminum trim that protects but does not dull the shine like if you did a typical clear anodizing job on them. If you can noticeably polish the trim up with aluminum polish (black on a rag) then they are not anodized . The clear anodizing barrier keeps that from happening in the same way the anodizing keeps the aluminum surface underneath the clear from reacting with the air and oxidizing(turning dull).

The cross hatch texture in the background is the tell that it is original. The repros have a smooth background.

Did the center emblem have a part number originally, as I have one I've had since the early to mid 70's and it has no numbers on it. I wouldn't think they would be making reproductions that soon after the cars were produced?

Quote from: scg36 on June 18, 2026, 06:29:22 PMHello SAAC Forum,
I have been a SAAC member for 22 years.

I just purchased CSX4147, and could use some help on its history. It comes with the original statement of origin dated 1999. It also comes with the paperwork from NY where the engine was installed. Other than the gentleman I purchased from, and knowing it was in NY prior to his ownership, I was hoping to see if there
is any additional history.

I went to the cobra registry, and that did not have anything.

Appreciate the help.
Thanks, Sean

Originally delivered to Billy Andrews at HRE as what must only be described as a "pallet" car (my words, not located within the actual registry, but given the following information, once can surmise, I'll leave it at that) per the 4th edition of the World Registry of Cobras and GT40's (publishing date unknown), with the following deleted items noted:wheels, sidepipes, vinyl upholstery, and headers. Also uncertain if the fiberglass body was painted or not at that time.

This is the car with the 351W "stroked" to "427cid"
Appears to have bought and sold a number of times:
Discussion from the new in 2024 owner getting ready to sell his ERA:

Where he bought it on BAT:

Sold on Cobra country

Then sold to you on BAT just recently:

That is all I see in my records, club cobra is down, as it has been on and off (mostly off) for the last few years, so I cannot dig into any other posts there at this time.

Hope you find this helpful
