Messages - Cobra Ned

I am not aware of any missing chassis that Shelby American might have had, much less any that might have been sitting around such that they may have been sold as an incomplete part, especially if it may have had a VIN.

Just checked. No snow anywhere I can see here in Vero Beach. Just sand and sun. :D.

Dear Mr. Ned,

How about a bedtime story about this car. Were you feeling alright, you look a little fuzzy.

Uh-uh. Ain't me watching that circus.

FWIW, a few comments on earlier posts in this thread: #18 is Bill Bradford in CSX 3168. #20 is Fred Freer's CSX 3153. Don't recognize the geeky photographer by the left rear fender. #21 is my CSX 3227, with CSX 2099 in front of it, and 2054 in front of that. #26 - in the center is Connie Moore's CSX 3031, with Connie in a deck chair in the photo below it. #27 is Bill and Bud Jones' CSX 3102, with the alloy body off 3005 and its unusual scoops. A lot of water over the dam since these were shot.

No race parts at all? Car was equipped from the factory with sway bars, aluminum hi-rise intake, comp ignition and tach, comp oil pan, race tires, and a roll bar. When it was built - early in January of '63 - that's what comp parts were offered by Shelby American, other than the kidney-bean Halibrands, which were used on the factory comp cars.

Keep hoping it's going to shed its carapace and go topless...

Dan, I've got 3073 stamped on the collar just inboard of the steering box on my COX car. The corresponding collar on the right is obscured and I can't get close enough to read it.

2389 is still in its metamorphosis phase as a coupe these days.

Up For Auction / Re: Lance Reventlow's Cobra

This has been known as having been bought by Reventlow for many years. Even prior to Legendary's purchase. But there are no race records to fall back on that show Lance as ever having raced a Cobra. Shelby himself said Reventlow bought it with the approval of his father as a gift to his half-brother Dick, who chose to party on in Europe rather than come home to enjoy the Cobra. His loss.

Or it could already have been mentioned, as the owner is in the registry and a few people know who he is. :P

It's nice to get more race data on these cars. Most of what is in the registry files came from Autoweek, R & T, C&D, etc back in the day, and there are obviously more details to be had from specific race programs.

Thanks for the updates. I am guessing that given the new site, all prior posts are now history and gone?
