I have a NOS 4 speed shift knob for a 68-70 Mustang or Shelby for sale. This part is in very nice condition but it is slightly different from what was used on actual production cars. The top of the 3 is rounded which makes this correct for 69-70 cars. I do not have the original box. Price is $125 plus shipping. Email gandcmurphy@rogers.com if interested. Thanks.

Given what appears to be a brass threaded insert which typically signifies a reproducion the original box wouldn't matter. Assemblyline and genuine service knobs typically had a steel threaded insert.

Thanks for the info Bob. I will reduce the price to $75 plus shipping to compensate for that.

brand new Drake ones are around 40 bucks. Drake repos were made like the last service ford ones with a silver ring and not a chrome ring. Of course as Bob mentioned Ford units had a steel insert plus markings on the bottom from mid 68 on. Earlier ones didn't plus 68s had a flat 3. I put one of these on my 68 GT350 and it lasted about a year before the silver ring started to  discolor. I eventually put a correct flat 3 on that car as I collect original knobs  and have a few of all iterations but the very earliest knob without the Indented ring .

shelbymann1970, since you're a knob man can you tell me what the application for this knob is? Probably got it 35 years ago or more.

If it starts it's streetable.
Overkill is just enough.

I'd think OTC from Hurst. I used to have the same one(still might tucked away in a box). The Hurst shifters in Fords used a T handle. For 68-69 Shelbys I believe they used 4 iterations. The first was a flat 3 with no ring around the woodgrain portion( my late Jan built 68 I have the original and it has no ring). Then they had the ring around them. Then  in 1969(don't know the transformation date) they went to a round 3. Then in Jan 69 they went to a darker woodgrain. I got pics and own all the knobs mentioned. I even bought some early Repo knobs with a chrome ring(before Drakes came out).I credit Chris Simon who used to work for Legendary motors and is now retired doing awesome restos at his place with educating me on these knobs almost 20 years ago as he has a lot of them. Bob Perkins wrote an article about the changeover date in 1969 to a darker grain in Mustang monthly. I used to have a folder on photobucket with all my variations of knobs but the POS site locked all my pics and have not done one on Flickr yet.
