Got a 2006 Shelby GT-H #444 couple of months ago.  Kind of a nice bookend to my 2014 GT500 I bought new almost 12 years ago. I've had various Mustangs through the years dating back to 1970.  I've always liked the S-197 body style as it's reminiscent of the 1967-70 Sportsroof body style.  I plan on driving it. it came with 29K miles on it and I've put about a thousand more on it in the last four months. I'm at the age when I enjoy my cars and will let the next guy worry about restoration (LOL).

It's interesting in that it drives and handles pretty much like my '14 GT500, only with about half the horsepower (325 hp vs 662 hp).  My daily driver is a 2019 Ecoboost convertible with Pony Package and Ford Performance Tune Package so it's probably a little faster than the GTH. For really slow driving I still have a 1970 Mach 1 with 351C and a 5-speed, with is fun, but not as fast as the other three.

Hi Bill and welcome aboard to the one and only Shelby American Automobile Club.

You own some stellar vehicles the 2014 GT500 with its 662 HP.

The 2019 EcoBoost and you have it tuned definitely no slouch and handles fantastic with its modern suspension and IRS.

The old 70 Mach 1 gota have it for nostalgia.

Then we come to the Black and Gold Bad Boy,  the 40th anniversary GTH.

One of a limited five hundred produced with its unique C.S.M plate in 2006. Ofcourse you already knew that.

Let me share with you an article in our Late Model GTH section published by our good friends at Haggerty.

Congratulations on your acquisition of a modern day collectible the 40th Anniversary GTH

The late model GT500s are killer machines.

On our 2007 GTH we did consider a possible instalation of a supercharger on the factory 4.6 or buying a complete wrecked GT500 drive train or a complete wrecked 2016 up mustang Coyote drive train swap with a whipple install.

But EVERYONE advised us not to do it on our one of five hundred GTHs made.

But that Hagerty article was what put us to rest.

So, it's best to consider the SGT ( in our case the GTHs) a "Mustang GT-Plus" with Shelby bona fides.

It never had its time at the top of the hierarchy however, as the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 also landed on U.S. tarmac in 2007.

Developed almost entirely in-house by Ford's Special Vehicles Team (SVT) with only consultation and licensing from Shelby, the new GT500 was fully built by Ford at its Flat Rock, Michigan, plant.

Differences over its siblings were substantial: a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 ripped the rear tires with 500 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque, bigger Brembo brakes, and an aggressive suspension with revised springs and dampers to manage the added heft and power.

It also sported a vented hood, different front fascia, and rear spoiler, along with its own unique wheels and tires.

But was it a Shelby?

Well, according to some diehard Shelby supplicants, no.

Despite the name on the decklid and window sticker, some claim this was more SVT than Shelby and had little to do with the "real" cars built in Vegas—nevermind that Ford contracted with Shelby for the later 2008–2009 GT500KR.

The SGT, on the other hand, was as Shelby as they
