Did all 66 Hertz cars have the decal describing the brake warning label on the dash? My car currently does not have one and I do not see residue or any faded area under the radio where it may have been.

I have seen it on the padded dash and also centered under the radio. I used to put it on the padded dash, but it kept falling off after a while so mine is centered under the radio.

If you put it on the dash pad which is one of the typical locations besides under the radio then you have to use additional adhesive because it will typically fall off otherwise. Additional adhesive is not typically needed when placing the sticker under radio.

aboss4tg  what is the cars VIN (Shelby)?  We can at least attempt to see what other Hertz cars from the same production period were to see if that would help with the possible location

98SVT - was 06GT

No - At one time the consensus was those with the Ford master cylinder got the decal and those with the Mico cylinder did not. I don't know if that is still the opinion. I'm pretty sure the decal idea came after cars were delivered and complaints arose. They would have been sent to Hertz locations for installation (and it probably wasn't done on all cars).

It only takes one car that didn't get a sticker to prove your statement correct. ;) A pretty safe bet IMO.

To continue the discussion  - Would not agree that "it only takes one car..." since there could many be other explanations as to why a car didn't have a decal. Fell off, as one reason, has already been discussed as a possibility. We would need to know the exact car and likely the picture the example was to discuss the possibilities.

Would be interesting to see of find some documentation from Hertz to dealers if they were added after the cars were released to the regions but, of course, before they were returned to Shelby. Without something like that its going to be difficult to  determine when it was applied if done after they were sent out. Had not heard the idea that the decal was tied to the type of master cylinders on Hertz cars. Not to say that in some circles that was not the conclusion at the time. Don't recall anything in the magazine or registry that mentions them.

Just for clarification in the statement
"I'm pretty sure the decal idea came after cars were delivered and complaints arose. " your referring to the Hertz company

Jeff you should know better. :)  As soon as someone makes a absolute statement like they were all one way or the other there is always that one guy. ;)

Well of course you know that I know that. We've both been in those discussions and statements over the decades  :) And its also why we've chosen our standard wording we use in responses usually.    OF course the back story is often where it comes unwound.

Maybe we're both looking at the discussion and statements from a different angle this time. Has happened.

Thanks. Check my pictures and I don't have any unrestored examples from that production period with a picture of the dash. Just something most owners don't take pictures of commonly. Too busy taking pretty pictures of the engine compartment and exterior I guess. Plenty of restored cars but can't use those IMO. This is a challenge we have for many things since few cars were well documented before they were redone in the 80-90's and few pictures were taken.

From examples from cars with Shelby VINs about 300-400 greater than your cars,  I found them on the dash pad. Best I can do at this point in time
