I'm listing an NOS pair MUSTANG pin letter sets.  Sorry, there are no Ford boxes or FoMoCo envelopes.  Reproduction letters are filled in on the backsides.  You can see there are hollow pockets on all the letters on these ones.  These also come with all the grommets.  $850 plus shipping for a pair or $425 for just one set.

Here is the back of an original "N" - you can make out the part number on the back...

I had not heard of "Engineering numbers" appearing on the back side of the trunk/fender MUSTANG letters.  After reading the last two posts, I had to remove the same letter "N" from my original late 66 SJ Hi-po GT Conv to have a look.  It does have 4 small numbers that appear to be 5640 as said in the previous posts. (Photo attached). I have revised my ad and removed "Assembly line" from the description.

As an additional resource, I've posted a photo of a set of the same letter set Ford offered in dark blue and white boxes in the late 70's or early 80's era (not for sale).  We see there are no engineering numbers but are genuine Ford parts. Just wanted to display the follow up for any potential buyers to prove my parts listed are genuine Ford parts.  Good luck finding an earlier set.

Cleaned up the picture of the first N.

If you look closer on the left vertical portion of the "N" that you pictured you can make out the first part of the Ford part number which is "C5ZB" I believe.

I've sold several sets of NOS "MUSTANG" over the years. NOS ones taken from the Metuchen plant by a retired line worker and the Ford Service replacement emblems. The assembly lines ones had the "engineering #'s" in back of those. The Ford Service ones from the 1970's and 1980's didn't have any markings cast into those. My guess? Ford had additional casting dies made and probably contracted an outside supplier to make the tooling. There's no way; one set of "C5Z" casting dies supplied emblems for every Mustang model year from 1965 to 1970 without taking a beating and forming castings with noticeable irregularities.
