Driveshaft Loop

I have a couple of driveshaft loop questions. When I bought my car in the 1980s, a previous owner had replaced the exhaust and in the process the original driveshaft loop was torched off. The remaining pieces of the loop are 1-1/4 wide. I purchased a reproduction loop, but it is only 1 inch wide. Were there different style driveshaft loops? Also, I have lost the attach hardware. Was the loop retained by a plain nut and washer or some type of locking nut with a flange?
