Hi: I Just bought a 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT with 12,000 miles and just joined SAAC. My question is why some have a temporary spare tire, and some have the sealant inflator kit? I would like to remove the inflator kit and put a real spare tire in its place. Could I just buy a stock 17" spare tire kit from someone on eBay and solve the problem?
Thanks! Dave.

Hi Dave-this really isn't the forum to get info on 'newer' Shelbys. The 2007 SGT came from the factory with the tire inflator kit and the inflator canisters are no longer available. You can get a full size spare, but I believe some have had an issue with it not fitting correctly in the tire well as the particle board cover will not fit flush. I just carry an aftermkt 'inflate a spare' cannister. Best to check Team Shelby site.

Thank you for the information. Dave.

Try doing an internet search.

I just pulled two from the net that are available

A spare tire for $108

A spare tire and jack kit $170.50 free shipping on Ebay

I found mine in a salvage yard for our 2007 GT tire and jack kit. Also check other Ford products for the same year and lug pattern

The full size spare was an Option.  Still is to this Day.  I am on my third late Model Mustang, 2015, 2020 and now a 2023 and neither of them had the full size spare tire so I bought one on Ebay.  When I Traded the 2015 in for a Van, I removed the Spare Tire and put the Inflater Kit back in, did the same when I traded the 2020 in for a Truck.

I found one on eBay that fits. Thanks for all of the info.

When I purchased my Shelby GT new it only came with the tire inflator kit and compressor. I installed Brembo brakes on mine and put a GT500 wheel and tire in the spare tire area. Not a perfect fit but better than nothing. I also added a jack. There is a section in the forum for our cars if you have any additional questions.

Quick question ?

The Ford "regular spare tire" fits around the Brembo calipers  ?

Reason that I ask is our GT500 had a front tire puncture and the spare would not allow the front tires to rotate.

We ended up putting a back tire in the front in order to clear the brembos

Let us know, thanks

As you stated a regular spare tire will not fit over the Brembo caliper that's why I carry a GT500 as a spare. It sticks up higher in the trunk than a normal spare would but I travel to other states and don't want to be stuck.

I heard the 2000-05 Thunderbird temp spare will also fit. It's aluminum so lightweight.
That's for the SA modified "Shelby GT" (GT Mustang with Motorsport suspension). I don't know about the Ford built Brembo equipped ones.
