  The model is still in the box.  Good to know about the remote oil filter.  I was going by what I saw when the car was at the NMCN show a few years back.  At that time it was in the show with white wall tires, not Speedway 350's.  Probably stressing the tire test point.

  The single remote was from a 427 Cobra S/C , standard issue.

You have to keep up with your reading because I already addressed that in reply #29. For those reading ( because Randy already knows this) that typically only the 427 SC got the remote cooler. The regular (if it can be called that  ;) ) street 427/428 Cobra used the typical BB oil filter adapter but instead of a FL1 standard filter it used a shorty alternate filter to fit between the adapter and the main tube. There is a Ford equivalent but the SA paperwork calls for a short Fram filter

Yes  sorry Bob , I should have said  standard issue for an S/C LOL. That remote was sourced from Holman Moody initially. It is also interesting ( and I remember seeing them) that the Fram "short" filter was the original "spec" filter on non oil cooler equipped 427 Cobras. It's not like the filter would hit the ground before the oil pan.


  BTW , Don't feel bad about passing up on the SS. I ( and several others) passed up on Royal Krieger selling the "flip top" Cobra for $5,000. Sure it was a "basket case" at the time and more money than I had in the bank 40+ years ago but "shoulda , woulda , coulda" applies as well. If it was purple , I might have made the leap. LMAO.

Oh the cars many of us should have bought - looking backwards. It would make for another long thread. But most of us, if we could go back, would likely make the same choice given the same mindset and situation.

In the future we may think the same way "shoulda , woulda , coulda" about our choices we make today. Just part of our experiences. :)

Yea, shoulda coulda woulda.  I remember coming across a 71 fastback with two different VIN  numbers on ebay. I Thought,  hmm This could be the prototype Boss 351. I waited 2 seconds too long and, BOOYAW!  I was right! it turned out to be the the one BOSS 351 prototype. 1.5 mil later i am on the sidelines.

Didn't Bob Perkins buy it from the ebay purchaser?

Yup. For a nice tidy sum! Perkins has all the goodies to make it a 71 boss 302. I think he is almost done.
