The objective was to ensure that this GT350 would run, drive and perform as flawlessly as it looks.

ONE OF ONE

Shelby No. 02545 was special-ordered through Hi-Performance Motors, the legendary Los Angeles-area Shelby dealership closely associated with Carroll Shelby and Shelby American.

Its factory specification was unusually well equipped for a GT350.

No. 02545 was ordered in Dark Moss Green with a Black interior and equipped with an exceptional combination of desirable features, including:

California emissions equipment
Tinted glass
Documentation accompanying the automobile, including its Marti Report, identifies No. 02545 as a one-of-one example as factory equipped.

Its unusually extensive option content reportedly increased the original sticker price by approximately 25 percent over the base GT350—illustrating just how unusually configured this Shelby was when new.

After initially being offered through Hi-Performance Motors, the automobile was subsequently traded to performance-oriented Pletcher Ford in Pennsylvania.


THE HEART OF THE GT350

ORIGINAL MATCHING-NUMBERS DRIVETRAIN

At the heart of No. 02545 is its original 289 cubic-inch High Performance K-Code V-8, rated in Shelby specification at 306 horsepower.

The lightweight, free-revving HiPo 289 is the engine upon which the GT350 legend was established. For 1967, it represented the final evolution of the small-block GT350 during one of the most celebrated periods in Shelby American history.

The engine is paired with the automobile's automatic transmission, and No. 02545 retains its original matching-numbers drivetrain.

Its combination of the legendary Shelby 289, automatic transmission and factory air conditioning makes this an especially interesting GT350.

CONCOURS RESTORATION

No. 02545 underwent a comprehensive ground-up concours restoration by Tri-City Mustang Restoration.

The restoration was undertaken to an exceptionally high standard, with particular attention devoted to authenticity, correct components and preservation of the automobile's important original material.

Historical documentation concerning the restoration describes the retention of the car's original Ford sheet metal and important Shelby-specific components, while major mechanical and ancillary components were maintained in the appropriate date-coded configuration.

An original 1967 Mustang AM/FM radio was also added during the restoration.

The ultimate measure of a concours restoration, however, is not simply how impressive the automobile appears.

It is how that automobile performs when subjected to scrutiny by knowledgeable judges at the highest levels of the marque.

The passenger-side dashboard was personally numbered and signed by Carroll Shelby.

PRESERVING AN IMPORTANT SHELBY BY MAKING IT ROAD-READY

One of the challenges associated with owning a highly restored, award-winning collector automobile is that years of careful preservation and limited use can eventually create a considerable difference between how beautifully an automobile presents and how well it actually operates.

The current owner of No. 02545 specifically wanted to eliminate that distinction.

The objective was clear:

The mechanical condition and driving performance of the automobile should be commensurate with the extraordinary quality of its appearance.

Accordingly, during May, June and July 2026, No. 02545 was entrusted to:

for an extensive headlight-to-taillight inspection, evaluation, servicing, updating and sorting of the automobile's operating systems.

This was not undertaken as a cosmetic restoration, nor was the intention to modify an important and highly awarded Shelby.

Instead, the program was designed to carefully address the effects of age, limited use and normal deterioration of service components while preserving the authenticity and integrity of the underlying automobile.

The GT350 was evaluated as a complete vehicle and its operating systems inspected and addressed as necessary.

Mechanical and service items requiring attention were repaired, serviced or replaced with appropriate components so that the automobile could once again be driven and enjoyed with confidence.

Particular consideration was given to preserving the automobile's originality. Significant original 1967 components removed as part of this process were retained rather than discarded and accompany the automobile.
