I wanted to get some consensus of what others have found in regards to early vs. later center caps. The earliest center caps were flat and the later ones were the raised or embossed style. I have always thought the flat style emblem which was also used on the early side and rear emblems was only used in the first couple hundred cars before everything changed to the raised embossed style. What have others found?

Here is are picture examples of a later embossed Magstar center cap and a early flat style. I turned them so it was easier to see the raised and flat difference

I would agree, some images to help illustrate the "flat" vs the embossed...the first image is Gas Emblems, the middle image is the dash emblem snake, both early flat versions the lower one is larger (later) sized to better fill the rectangular cavity for it. the third image is a grouping of double-digit GT350's original faded flat gas emblems.

(I think car #112 had a mix of flat and embossed in places on the car but probably need to have the owner verify that.)

Here is an image of four Mag Star centers from an early car.  Some do think the flat Mag Star emblems were used for much longer in the production run than the other flat emblems on the cars.
