Nice new Shelby tag says "8T03J193371-02215". Its a red, four speed, ac car.

Here's the problem: Ford number 8T03J193371 is NOT a number assigned to Shelby. It started off life as a Gold, convertible sent to New York. It was an automatic transmission car.

Shelby # 2215 has a different Ford serial number. It is a blue fastback.

The photograph in the 2020 Shelby World registry is the fake car. Shelby Club can verify all above information.

2008 GT-C

It appears to have sold at Mecum in Monterey 2013 for $118,250 if my searching is correct. Does not appear to have been resold since at least not through a public auction house.

A friend came to me to verify the car. The owner died and kids are selling car. I noticed the numbers issue and asked Pete to help. Thanks Pete. Car is in SC.

Nice detective work. Sometimes their easy and "hidden" in plain sight other times they more difficult.  As always hope this publically posted information saves someone's a** but unfortunately someone gets burned.

Thanks for sharing.

My advice to the family was remove the Shelby tag and sell as a Mustang. Otherwise, things get "complicated"!
