Boxerville's Manor

FOUND!

Proud to report a success story.

I help run the lost and found page with Fred Ballard on the hipo mustang forum by keeping a database of vins people are looking for specifically, 65-67 hipo vins.  A gentleman reached out to me, provided a picture of a vin stamped 289 motor to add to my database.  It was a 6R09K vin so I contacted Howard Pardee (SAAC Registrar) who confirmed it belongs to a 1966 Shelby GT350.  Mr. Pardee put me in contact with the GT350 owner (Damon) and I was able to link up the two parties.

This is why I keep a database.  These wins are very rare but I'm a believer the more vins I record the higher the likelihood we can have more success stories like this.

Congratulations to the GT350 and hipo 289 owners tonight.

Merry Christmas!

Awesome win. I have the original owners manual, warranty card and window sticker of a 64 1/2 Mustang I want to give to the current owner. Haven't found him yet....

This sort of thing can only help the hobby. When we pool our collective knoledge, we all win! Great job.

Strangely not everyone has the same amount of spirit as a lot of those that try and help. I have had a number of things like build sheets ,owners manuals , engine blocks etc. that I have tried to reunite with owners but many (not all) have not had any interest regardless of if for free or at a modest price (like engine block).

Agree with Bob that unfortunately people don't see the value of reuniting original parts with their cars.
Two examples, first had a 65 350 come in with a 6R09 K...... block. Contacted Howard and he put me in touch with owner. I told him we were just looking to cover cost of 65 dated block, crank, hipo rods, hipo balancer and flywheel. I think it was like 2800 and guy said no. Second one even more bizarre. I bought an RUG S transmission and looking it over I saw serial # 1350XX. Not only was it a 135 car it was a historically significant 135 car. I told him either get me another RUG S or value which at the time was like 1000. He said no thanks

Great story, thanks for your efforts!

I have the original owner's manual for 6F07K333719, car was purchased new from Marv Tonkin Ford in Portland, OR on 5/14/66. It is listed in the HiPo forum database mentioned above and on the VMF, so far no luck finding the current car owner.

All these great stories make me believe that I can eventually get the original block for 6S1431. Did have contact with the current alleged owner of the block awhile back but he dropped of the face of the earth.
It's in southern California. I only need the block and main caps, I got everything else I need (Crank, rods, camshaft, etc).
Owned since 1971, NOW DRIVEN OVER 250,000 MILES, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎
