Rubber cap or not for high beam switch

My understanding is that the switch for high beams remains bare metal on 65/66 Shelbys. Does this hold true for a 68 G.T. 350 or is there a rubber cap? Was visiting a friend today who has a black 68 G.T. 350. I told him likely no cap. He has it bare metal so I told him it is correct. I hope I gave him the right information.

I been documenting the dimmer switch rubber cap long a go when i only found it on convertibles as when u see the position of switch on the floor board on a vert vs fastback and coupe it makes sense that ford would use it or need it as the vert inner frame rail runs up to torque box and u have less LH foot room to hit the dimmer switch as the switch is in a different location on the vert making it hard to hit especially on a 4-speed with clutch pedal is even harder yet to hit with your foot so the rubber cap is wider and makes it easy to hit the switch. Back years ago people always said it was an option or asessory part. Ford sold it under a c5zz# so it came out starting with the 65 mustangs.

Ed makes good points. I believe it is indicated in some of the different year assembly manuals as used only on the convertible models of a given year. There is not a reason given why in the manuals unfortunately.

Thank you gentlemen for your insights. I will let the owner know of these findings.
