Good am all, any thoughts on why my clutch pedal will not longer return to it's normal position from being pushed to the floor to shift? What I've been able to google on the inner web's is hopefully it's only the clutch return spring under the dash...thanks Scott

The bushings are worn out

Look at the pivot point on the clutch pedal support

Youre going to be changing the support if its worn through

Hopefully you did not install an aftermarket master or slave cylinder on your clutch like many do because the clutch is to hard.

Worse case it may be the release bearing or pressure plate: The release bearing can bind, or the pressure plate might be damaged, causing the pedal to stick.

But I think it may be a broken spring, a damaged linkage, or even the pedal assembly itself can prevent the pedal from returning properly.

I would look for the broken or worn out spring first.

Best of luck on your endeavors

I can't say for sure if this is your problem but If you are using a Centerforce style clutch and pressure plate it will do that even if the bearings/bushings are good in your clutch pedal support and cause to stick to the floor. It is annoying to have to tuck your toe under the pedal and pull the pedal up. The factory long style clutch and pressure plate of course does not have that problem and will return. If you want to use the centerforce style clutch and pressure plate I was told you have to modify the Z bar and move the pivot point up so that it does not put as much pressure.

Thank you all!  Now that I've been able to look at it....(car is new to me) clutch/brake assembly and all hardware under the dash is new. However the spring that attaches to the bottom of the Z bar and runs to the bottom of the shock tower is shot....could this be the problem and or a part of the problem?
