1965 SHELBY GT350! TWO DIGIT CAR SELLING AT AUCTION! SFM5S033

This GT350 is an early production two-digit car.

It was completed 2/65 and sold by High Performance Motors in Los Angeles.

It received a rotisserie restoration 6 years ago using many NOS parts and retains its original engine, rear end, distributor and many other pieces.

It is finished in Wimbledon White paint with black interior, and has a rear mounted battery, side exhaust, Cragar wheels with Goodyear Blue Dot tires.

It comes with the SAAC verification of its authenticity.

Ford asked Carroll Shelby to turn their Mustang into a formidable race car to compete in the SCCA B Production series. And that's exactly what happened with the Shelby GT350 winning the championship three years in a row.

But to compete, Shelby needed to produce at least 500 street examples. He used the 289 CI HIPO V-8 with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. Power was fed to the road through a four-speed aluminum manual T-10 transmission and a Detroit Locker rear axle. Stopping power was supplied by front disc brakes and heavy-duty rear drums. The front suspension was lowered, and Koni shocks were added. Rear seats were removed for weight and replaced with a fiberglass package. Inside a dash pod was mounted holding a 6,500-rpm tach and an oil pressure gauge. The 16-inch wood steering wheel was used, and Ray Brown racing style seat belts were fitted.

GAA Classic Cars offering this beautiful GT350 at auction in Greensboro on July 26th.  We've seen an uptick in pricing for '65 Shelbys this year due to their rarity and great driving experience.
