If you mean Dick Smiths 427 Cobra ? I believe it was running a 427 lightweight engine when it was clocked doing 198 MPH.

NO I was referencing the cars wearing the SHELBY name... Not the COBRA badge!

TA Coupe

Dick told me the engine was actually 472cu.in.

If it starts it's streetable.
Overkill is just enough.

Thanks for that info Roy..... That would explain why his car was making that much more steam over the other, FE guys!

Happy Holidays everyone... Question, was the steel lined hoods of 67 only used on the non vent hoods or were they lined on both vented and non vented hoods?

Only the non-louvered version.

As some of you know my cars very long journey, there are still a couple of issues that need attention. I take it out for an occasional TROPHY RUN to make sure no cobwebs have taken over, upon doing so on hard acceleration the car is burning rubber and crabbing to the passenger side. I thought it was some oil or sand in the road but going back to have a look see the road was perfectly clean. Going back to the beginning..... in 1971 it left the road in a street racing incident that left it parked for decades. Now it is back on the road (Rarely)and trying to figure out why it wants to crab to the passenger side. I measured the wheel position in the wheel well and is off 1/2 inch. Since the rearend has a spring locating dowl how could the rearend move 1/2 inch? Thanks in advance-

KR Convertible

I found mismatched springs in a 65 convertible I had years ago. Try to measure from the spring locating pins to the eye bolt. Locating pin could be missing or sheared off too.  My uncle the engineer helped me figure it out by using a square and making chalk marks on the garage floor.  I thought something had shifted when I changed floor pans, torque boxes and frame rails.

When I knocked down my 67 GTA to build my tribute car, I noticed the factory missed the pin to locate the axle into the spring. Might be wise to look there. Was off by about that amount.

Thanks guys , that will give me a couple of things to check on this long 3 day Holiday weekend. Be safe! :)

Here is a picture of its last outing and hope to have some more... as summer arrives. Life has gotten in the way of car related items but at least it is a complete car as I write this. Had a clutch leg operation that prevents driving the car but hope to be able to drive it soon. It is streetable and will try to ease into making it safe for some of those much faster speeds as intended. Be well!
For those that doubt the car exists this was taken a while back... First time out in like 47 years. Will try to have a few pics taken this year out in the wild instead of tucked away in the back or the shop.

Patiently awaiting those beautiful pictures!
