Just a guess but I think we are going to get up around $275-285k, unless buyers are afraid of the Canada thing

Does anyone know who did the restoration? I am wondering why it wasn't shown at SAAC ?  Its well done based on the photos, with a lot of good detail.

Look at the reflections in the paint. Appears the paint job is awesome on the car. Even the front valance has a great reflection of the photographer.  Car looks great but the front suspension appears to be aftermarket or in the case of the partially painted upper arms has bolted on ball joints. My PET PEEVE? The CHEAP aftermarket Scott Drake incorrect shift knob. It isn't that hard to find a decent 68 flat 3 shift knob for 68 Shelbys. Minor though  in the scope of the overall car. Pete, does div II allow for that Drake knob on 68s?

The short answer is "yes" they would allow it. The better answer is always the SAAC concours expectation is that the part look like the original. So, what is "allowed" is really anything the owner wants, if the judges want to deduct for a part that doesn't look like the production part that is their prerogative. I don't think most judges are going to be worried about that specific part and the deduction would be miniscule. I'm not sure what the point deductions are for shifters, but they are likely quite small, making the specifics of the knob even smaller.

Things like the suspension detailing would likely have a much greater impact on the overall deductions/score.

I would like to see this car with the black steel wheels and correct black side wall tires. Hubcaps in the trunk!

Yes, buying a Canadian car brings its own problems and headaches.  I did it once, but I would never do it again, life is too short and good cars are too plentiful in the US.

Maybe you can better detail your "problems and headaches"?  I've bought and brought 5 cars across the border and it's pretty easy.  There's border paperwork (export and import paperwork) and a 72 hour notification which isn't a big deal and of course you have to arrange transportation which I assume needs to happen for most purchases within the US.  In my case I drove 4 cars (68 GT500, 1993 Mustang GT, 07 Shelby GT-H, 06 FGT) across the border and I had to trailer my 13 BOSS 302S across as it's not street legal and a factory track car.  That's a pretty big cross section of cars crossing the border and I still have all 5 cars.   In my opinion, life is too short to pass up a rare car you may have been searching years or decades for.  So let's hear about your problems and headaches and help educate us.

I bought a Shelby out of Canada 9 years ago and it could not have been easier.  I had no issues whatsoever.

My facility did the restoration on this car back in the 2006/2007 timeframe / I would have to pull the files and look / I bought the car as part of a three car deal (with a warehouse full of parts) out of south Georgia (East Point) where it had been all its life  - from my memory it was a very clean and straight car, original drivetrain, obviously extremely rare with the factory black paint

Before we did anything with it, I sold it to an accountant in California

We got into it and he decided to go forward with a ground up restoration as we started on it, he originally just wanted it cleaned up and done to the point of where he could drive it and enjoy it. We got into it and he decided to go forward with a ground up restoration, we got into it further. He decided to have us to a rotisserie restoration and we went from there.

I believe that he was the one that sold it at auction back in 2012/13 and I've not heard about the car since

Getting cars out of Canada, since Covid has been a royal pain in the ass. I have had numerous clients attempt to get all different types of brand muscle cars out of Canada, and I always send them to a specific transport company that was owned by the Canadian transport minister for a number of years because you have to deal with border brokers, you have to deal with transport, there's a lot more to it than it used to be and the last car we did for a client, it took nine weeks to get it across the border and that was in January of this year

My friend Bob who lives in Winsor Canada(Detroit border) has done cars both ways with no problem and he tries to educate scared BaT bidders on Canadian cars. He brought a 69 R code Fairlane back a few months ago and sold a Caprice Wagon to a guy in Texas on BaT. The guy drove the wagon from Windsor to Texas in 2 days and he was over 80 years old. Of course proper paperwork done a head of time. I really don't know Stephen how it can be a royal PITA after having numerous conversations with my Canadian friend on the subject.

To stephen_becker and Coralsnake As Shelbymann1970 was saying I've sold quite a few muscle cars privately into the USA, by using an experienced customs broker, the process is pretty easy and painless. Yes it costs a few hundred dollars for the broker, and there is a US entry bond that is based upon the value of the car but it tops out at $ 600.00 if I recall, but there are no duties on North American built cars over 25 years old, and no Federal taxes, if you want to reach out to Shelybymann1970, he can give you my contact info to discuss further.
