One of the Most Important Days in World & Ford History Today!

Today in 1901, Henry Ford Raced and Won his only race; the results established the Henry Ford Motor Company and changed the world as we know it!

     But,..........Henry Ford abandoned this, his second motor vehicle business venture the "Henry Ford Company" in 1902; which then was reorganized into the Cadillac Automobile Company, by none other than Henry Leland, who then at a later date post WWI created the Lincoln Motor Company, which in 1922 was absorbed into the Ford Motor Company, Henry Fords' third motor car company venture!   :P

Oh so true .... but one just has to savor that specific moment in time, that  one victory for old Henry... huzzah !

The 1901 race car came to be known as "Sweepstakes" - and it still exists.

How fast were those cars going in that second pix?

If it hasn't been retouched beyond all original recognition, I'd guess (judging by the dust plumes off the tires) at least 35-40 mph.  The flag is blowing straight out, so it was a breezy day. 
Current:
2006 FGT, Tungsten. Whipple, HRE 20s, Ohlin coil-overs. Top Speed Certified 210.7 mph.

Kirkham Cobra 427.  482-inch aluminum side-oiler. Tremec 5-spd.
