Been down there for a long time, bought them right.  Used and rented them out, actually some saac members have stayed in them and let's just say they stayed very economically and where extremely happy with the accommodations and how centric it was to restaurants, shops, fueling, essentially you felt like you where on the mainland.

Although we usually jest about  every topic including weather and the global climate is changing rapidly, living down there we have experienced tidal changes  and they are not getting any better. In the next 15 to 20 years some will loose their homes,  won't be able to sell or a buyer will not be able to finance or acquire insurance. Twenty years and beyond who knows what the island chain will look like.

It's good that they are that high. You will be able to park your boat directly beneath them and fish right off of the porches. Good thinking!

I suppose that it is true that most presume that things will stay the way that they always were? I think that maybe "Americans" are the most presumptuous of all?

I never feel comfortable being way out in the water, even on an island. Consider the city of Venice though. It's true that there was apparently a compulsion to build out over the water but they have been experiencing rising water levels for several hundred years.

There are people that love that. So if that change comes slowly enough to the "Keys", that probably will be fine.

I'd be more concerned with being stuck out there when that body painting festival happens and someone wants to strip me down and paint me. Even if that happened, there should be NO record of that! ::)

I definitely am not waxing!  8)

Looks like New Year's eve and New Year's day are going to be phenomenal in la Florida !
