Seeing pictures taken back in the day, be it the 60's or 70's often have great information on how the cars were fitted.

This picture came up today on another thread. I had not seen it before. It appears to be a mostly stock, later production, '67 GT500. Note the Thermactor system is in place, but the valve covers are Shelby branded.

Bob, Dave, JD, do you have any background on this picture?

.
It was a article in Popular Mechanics. I believe at least some of the subject matter had to do with changing valve covers.

Hello,

I thought the photo was from an article in Popular Hot Rodding or Drag Racer.  Bob may be right with Popular Mechanics, though.  I have the magazine, but don't have time to go find it right now.  The article was about fine tuning (carbs and timing) the GT500 for drag racing.  Probably brought about by the slow 1/4 mile times 0100 turned for Car and Driver, Road and Track, and Sports Car Graphic.

Thanks,
Eric

Wow Eric, you really grew up with that car.  Pretty cool.

+1 again.  Cool seeing your pic just the day before on Mustang 360 as an example of the right way to photograph your car.

Those 68 wheels it came with must have been a popular upgrade back in the day.  My 67 red fastback (non Shelby) had them when I bought it, too.

Hello,

Thanks for the heads up about Mustang 360 using photos of my car.  That's kind of cool.  I don't know when the car lost its original KH Magstars.  I moved those '68 GT wheels onto a '70 Mustang fastback that I had for a few years.  They were on it when I sold the car back in 1994.

Thanks,
Eric

Love those meaty Goodyears he has on also.   😎

Hello,

Tires are 235/60 in the front and 255/60 in the rear.  I really like how they look, too.

Thanks,
Eric

Hello Brian,

Yes, I did.  I am very fortunate to have had the car for my entire adult life.

Thanks,
Eric

Hello Everyone,

Here is 67411F--0100-ENG.  The first production GT500 built.  The first photo was taken on 12/27/79 when we brought the car home.  I was just 16 years old at the time.  The second photo is more recent.

Thanks,
Eric
