Concours Talk / Re: turn-light sequencer circuit boards

I have a Cadillac which I ocasionaly bring to the CLC meets. Every time I have attended the judges do ask that you turn on turn signals, brakes, wipers and so on. The car next to mine lost points for an incorrect hose clamp. I have not seen anyone with LED tail lights being judged but I know I could tell LED's from incandescent.

Would a judge normally check the internals of the sequencer box for originality? I would think the brightness and speed of the LED's would be a sure give away.

Thanks Bob, is there a reason the roll bar tube and bracket were green, is it primer? As for the two bracket mounting holes in the sheet metal were they drilled specifically or did they use existing factory holes that just happen to be there. Will check mine tomorrow to see if I can locate the holes. If they're not there that would be concerning.

Yes, so all though a VIN is listed in the registry that does not confirm the physical nature of the vehicle. The only thing I can tell is that my 69 is numbers matching according to the vin tags. Have the Marti report and all looks to match up. Purchased it in late 2024 from Bret at Cape cod Mustangs in MA. He had some records but nothing going back to when it was restored. Can't be sure what's new or original but believe the bones are authentic.

With a bit more digging I learned the factory 69/70 roll bar were bolted in not welded. It looks like mine was replaced at some point with a Branda.

LED's and a new electronic sequencer all sounds great but how would that affect originality when it comes to judging?

Pics attached, welds and bracket look half ass, but not sure if that's how it was dane. Verts pics show a bracket with a bolt which looks more factory. My roll bar has welded couplings which don't  look correct to me but bar does have the tie downs.

Thanks Bob, good to know. The car is listed in the registry so I can only assume that it's mostly original. It has been completely restored but that was done before I purchased. The roll bar does have the surf board tie downs so maybe it is the real deal. Will post some pics and see where it leads.

Thanks, yes rear qtr window crank. I see the friction washers are available. Pulled my rear trim panels off to replace convertible top pump lines. Qtr panels are brittle and splitting so may need to order replacements from Branda. They do not appear to be originals so no loss.

Also looks like my roll bar may be the three pc one from Branda, has tack welded couplings. Vinyl is ripped so another repair to tackle. Picked up a nice one peice used roll bar but not sure if its original or not, how does one tell. Grinding welds to replace is going to be a nightmare.

Thanks again!

Hello, working to get the small details on my 69 factory correct. Was there a chrome trim collar affixed to the rear door panel behind the window crank on a 69 Shelby convertible. Mine does not have a trim collar but I see that some mustangs have one.

Thanks!
