Ask a Registrar / Re: 66 hood to cowl seal
December 29, 2025, 04:12:37 PM
TY

I spoke with Peter Geisler, Orlando Mustang on this and he said the same thing. He has worked on or restored quite a few 65-66 Shelbys and this was consistent with most of these cars.

Ask a Registrar / 66 hood to cowl seal
December 29, 2025, 10:30:24 AM
I have a low mileage 66 with a lot of original parts I am cataloging and noticed the cowl seal has two metal tabs on each end that have what looks like the tab is bent over the mounting screws
Is this normal? My other 66 cars just had the flat plate

A lot of good information everyone has provided. Considering looking for a 66 transmission and will try and update when I get started.

TY for all your response to my question. I purchased the transmission from a friend that had it rebuilt and never installed after rebuilding. Should be a good start for the short term until I can find an original.

Can a C4 be built with all the parts that make it a HI PO?

Is there a vin stamped on the automatic transmission housing? I have a 66 Hertz that was converted to a four speed and want to convert back to an automatic. Recently purchased a C4 and noticed a vin or series of numbers stamped on the top side on a flat tab. The one I purchased reads 135920 and not sure if this is a vin number.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: Bumper date codes
November 22, 2025, 05:36:50 PM
This helps as my 66 Hertz was produced in early Feb. and did not have the original bumper, so I plan on re chroming the 1-31 M3 which should be coded correctly for my car. TY

Both are for the 65-66 Mustang.

I have two original front bumpers with date codes, 8 15 M4, and 1 31 M3
How do you decipher the date codes?

Are you looking for a mint plenum or one with a little worn corner or edges?

Ask a Registrar / Re: 66 original exhaust
October 29, 2025, 05:22:52 PM
TY everyone for your responses. My goal is to use the correct system as close as possible on my 66. These would be a nice pair for someone on a budget and have a member request purchasing once I order the new set from Scott Fuller.

Hope this helps others with information and descriptions on what they have or looking to buy.

I have looked at the Scott Fuller set up and have considered purchasing. When I started cleaning these parts, they were in such good condition I thought about using on my 66. I'm sure it would be best to use the Fuller set up and maybe sell these to someone that can use them.

I appreciate the responses and wanted to see what others thought would work.

Ask a Registrar / 66 original exhaust
October 27, 2025, 05:08:39 PM
I purchased a 66 A code a while back with dual exhaust installed and these were on the car with these paper tags.
There are stampings that read 2.000 AL in two spots on these and would like to know if these are originals?

I only showed the one side as I am cleaning up the surface rust on them, and they show no major issues or rust thru. Used rust cleaner jell and brass brush with great results.

I'm thinking of using these on my 66 Hertz. Any comments would be appreciated.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / 69 A/C Condenser for a GT 350
September 28, 2025, 03:36:56 PM
What is the correct reproduction condenser available for the small block cars? I see some from the usual repro part houses have one, but the upper mounting brackets are not correct.

Any help would be appreciated.
