I wish that there was a recording of the special talk presented at the Museum (some number of years back) regarding the work done to the Coupe after Dr Simeone acquired it. I remember being surprised at what all was needed.
Agree or not... Dr Simeone's goal was to preserve the car (#1 in the HVA Registry) as much as possible.
IIRC, they noted that MORE time was spent to preserve vs what it would have taken to restore it.
I can barely imagine the patience and skill that must have been required just to remove all of Phil Spector's ridiculous lettering and graphics...
If that car could tell stories - it would surely be quite the tale

"Load in" day for guest cars was Monday, I was in the "first wave" so did not get to see everything.
The "Exhibit" officially opens on 4/11 in conjunction with the Demonstration Day. Hope to see a good crowd there.
Here are a couple of "preview" pix.

The Simeone Foundation Museum in Philly continues their celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the USA with a special exhibit (4-10 thru 4-26-26) and Demonstration Day (4-11-26).
See Dan's preliminary post at:
https://www.saac.com/forum/index.php?topic=31825.0

I copied and pasted other details from the Museum below.
Details for the Demonstration Day (nominally 11 AM to 2 PM)
"Carroll Shelby and the Rise of Professional Racing in America - Carroll Shelby carried America's ambition on his shoulders, proving that one determined dreamer could topple giants and redefine an era. Cars from the Museum's Collection to be highlighted include: 1950 Allard J2 (Caddy powered); 1954 Austin Healey 100; 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Pinin Farina Spyder; 1958 Aston Martin DBR 1; and THE 1964 Shelby Daytona Coupe (CSX2287)"
The Museum folks note that "Shelby Events" always bring out a great crowd.

(side note: the cars have been selected - list is for reference)

Full disclosure: my Tiger has been accepted for the Exhibit  8)

Thanks for posting.
I'm pretty sure that I saw the "flip top" car at LMC back in 2022... but that part of the collection was a strict no-photo zone. I wish that I had known a little more about it at that time. Wow  8) 🏁

Sounds great - I'll watch for additional details and plan to see you there 👍
The Museum guys always note that Shelby events are very well attended.

The "Corvette" form shown is for a multi-week exhibit... what is planned for this?

Quote from: pbf777 on November 13, 2025, 01:37:31 PMYa know, with something like this, one of the first questions you'll always get is: "Where are you doing to park that thing?"  ???

The answer obviously is: "Where ever I want!"  8)
    Scott.

Exactly. There was a recruiting ad for the Army years ago - probably during one of the eras of a gas crisis - that featured a Tank.
They noted the horrible fuel mileage. The punchline was (from my memory anyway), "but talk about ease of parking - who's gonna fight you for a spot;D

never any replies on this... seems a shame - but it will likely be in the scrap pile next time my buddy at work heads to the yard with his truck bed filled.
LMK if any other ideas. Thanks

this was great fun Dan  8)  - thanks for putting it all together.
The variety of cars was pretty wild... [almost?] everything from a '65 GT350 to the latest Ford GT - with a hefty dose of "late model" Shelby's and other special Mustangs. 2 "Daytona Coupes", 2 of the '04-06 GTs, that hot rod Focus, and even one Shelby F150.
Adding a few pix for the "non-facebookers"  ::)
