Since I am A) Getting old, B) have my Registry and all SAAC publications in storage do to a relocation; my question is what is the correct finish on the underside of an all steel hood? I have a friend who has a fairly late 66 that he purchased in 1967 with the underside finished in satin/semi-gloss black. The hood I have had in my possession since the late 1970's has no evidence of body color or black.
I am leaning on body color, but would not be disappointed with the black underside.

That hood has been on the car ever since I first saw it in the mid 1980's here in CO. It is I believe an aftermarket hood from back in the day. There was also another 66 GT350 that was in the CO area that came from CA and it had a similar hood.

The "damper" was machined to clear the three sheave pulley to align with the proper accessories. It would have no bearing on the relationship to the stock K rotating assembly. The factory (Ford)  IMHO would not build a number of K 289 engines to accommodate the limited number of K equipped cars that had the air conditioning option.
It was cheaper to machine a K "damper" than to remove the timing cover and swap the timing components.
