Up For Auction / Re: 9F02R480441 on BAT

Ah yes, the old right vs. wrong, correct vs. incorrect and factory correct vs. well, I'm not sure what.  True enough that a buyer, if they can afford it, gets what they get-knowingly or not.  It's their money.  Now, for the purist, looking at cars that may not be "right", "correct" or "factory correct" is like that itch you just can't scratch.  It can drive you nuts-especially when you see the price(s) they command.  That aside, I still find the comments and insights, for the most part, on point and helpful.  You just have to cut thru the bs.  There are factory publications, judging standards and very knowledgeable pp in place that tell us, show us and guide us as to what is believed to be "the way" these cars were built.  Some pay attention and care and some don't.  Some will say a non-matching number engine does not affect value and some feel otherwise.  Same thing with color, interior etc.  There is one thing, however, that I feel we should all care about or at the very least consider: the standards in place including the pp who have devoted their time and knowledge to document and share them, deserve our thanks.  Buyers can then decide what to do with it.  Perhaps a bit vauge and obtuse, but you get the point...

All of this amounts to one very simple thing-you'd better make time to inspect if planning to bid.

Correction-almost 100k out the door.  I'll refrain from making any further comments on this C Code car...

Cars For Sale / '66 Vert on Bat
September 05, 2025, 02:40:21 PM
Knowing that I'll get some push back on this-70k (or higher) hammer plus the fees is great for the seller but as a buyer/owner, imo, you're  so far upside down it's scary.  It's not a GT.  It's not a 4spd.  It's got a bunch of cool options that were not factory installed.  Better plan would have been to leave the car factory and then set the restoration in motion.  I'm sure it's pleasing to the eye but are you kidding me.  And, the room for appreciation going forward is as slim as it gets-again imo.  Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder on this one.  For the money, put me in touch with Bret for a nice driver quality Shelby.

Cars For Sale / Re: '66 Triple Black Convert.
September 02, 2025, 11:29:46 AM
Without droning on about this thing...  The '66 I referenced in my original post is a black paint/black int. car with a white top.  I mistakenly referenced it as a triple black car.  That car was scheduled to be auctioned at the Owl's Head Transportation Museum in Maine on the 23rd/24th of August.  It is not and was not advertised as a GT either by OHTM or the seller-I specifically asked the seller that very question and he responded in the negative.  In my review of other Mustangs being auctioned that weekend, I did not see a '65 GT in the listing.  I did, however, see a car fitting that description on the auction results page.  Given this info., I have to believe that they are two different cars.  I did not get an explanation as to why the '66 (non-GT car) never made it to Maine and it doesn't really matter at this point as it's on BAT.  Quick edit-all of the answers are noted on the BAT listing.

I may be wrong, but I believe the car you believe sold at Owl's Head was actually a '65 GT.  I'll verify from the result's sheet when I have a minute.

I could not locate it on the Owl's Head auction results page...  Again, Strange.

My bad on the t-black-too many other things on my mind.  So it seems as if the car never made it to Maine?  It's now being advertised on the MS website as being listed on BAT.  Strange.

Cars For Sale / '66 Triple Black Convert.

The Owl's Head Transportation Museum in Maine is having their annual auto auction this weekend.  There's a '66 vert coming up on Sat. that's apparently being highly touted.  Does anyone know the car/details.

Not sure where this thread is going, but, I own a '70 350/4spd with the original/factory red interior in place and in great condition if any reference pics. or whatever may be needed going forward.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Re: Steel wheels
May 12, 2025, 10:46:16 AM
I have 3 restored steel wheels available.  I can verify dates etc., but I believe 1 is a late '66 date and the other 2 '67's.  I have detailed pics.and a breakdown of numbers.  I know it's not a complete set but...  Reach me at anthonyjeffery@comcast.net if interested.  Thanks.
