I just used varsol and a brush. I had to go over it 3 or 4 times to get it clean though. Here is a picture of how mine turned out. Good luck.

I have a used 4 speed shift knob. I know it will fit 68-70 4 speed cars but is correct for 69-70 Shelby's. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is an original Ford part or is it a reproduction piece. The threaded insert in the back of it is steel. I have attached a few pictures. I have a really nice NOS coupe convertible trunk lid that will fir a 67 or 68 Mustang. The top has some very very light surface rust and a light dimple and a very light 2-3" scratch.
