CSX 2000 Series / Formal Cobra Birthday?
March 17, 2021, 12:33:52 PM
Is there a day which is considered the official Birthday or Introduction day for the Cobra? As a comparison, the Mustang has April 17 as it's birthday.

Obviously the year is 1962.

Working on putting together an open track event for Shelby, Mustangs, and Fords. Would be at Pocono Raceway, North Course. Guessing at $250-300 per car. Two Shelby only run groups, beginner and advanced. 4 or 5 20 minute sessions and class for novices. Working on possible instructors. Will also have a morning and afternoon touring session, paced, like lunch laps. Small cost. Working out the details, but want to gauge interest. We need 40 cars to make it fly.

With the national convention still in question (if at all), and rumored to be out west, here's a chance for the East Coast to get together, have a low-key day at the track. You could even just be there and be social.

So, right now wanting to see if there's enough interest. Please respond either saying a hearty "YES!!!" and you would sign up, "Yes, maybe", "Yes, I'd like to do the touring laps", or "No, how dare you want me to run my precious car on the track!!!".

Many thanks and looking forwards to hearing your answers, comments, suggestions.

Dan

If you like that, then be part of the 2021 North east Regional Shelby meet!

Only those who register for the full weekend will be part of this fun. We'll have a competition for the best thrower, winner gets a special engraved axe. Special Go-Kart run groups for Shelby drivers (Cash for laps, but reduced rates).

More details to come.....

Looking to replace the speedometer in my FFR. Going from fluctuating mechanical to smooth GPS.

Will use the Autometer Elec Speedometer, but do have a choice of sending units. So, asking if any of you here have used a GPS system, what components did you use, and how did it work?

Happy Pre-Thanksgiving to all!

The end of 2020 is with sight, it has been a very interesting year. Hoping 2021 returns us to more of a normal life?

In spite of all the difficulties, we had a very good year. We made Cars & Coffee work, the Regional meet went better than expected, and we adapted to new ways to keep in touch with everybody.

The last ZOOM meeting is Monday eve, Nov 16 at 7:00 PM. Here is the link:

2020 North East Fall Regional Shelby Meet – UPDATE!!!

Time for a BIG update on the event. We have all been bouncing around, trying to make events and car things work during these times, it has been a challenge. Unfortunately, most events have packed up and put off until next year.
NOT US!!!
We have moved parts of the event, changed others, but have been able to actually improve things, and keep us Covid-Compliant to boot. So the show goes on!
•   NEW SUNDAY CAR SHOW LOCATION – We've moved only a few miles from the former site, to just south of Hellertown. We're now at the Silver Creek Athletic Association park. Located at 2943 Route 212 Springtown, PA 18081, 610/346-6840. Take Route 412 South from Rt 78, and head south on 412 through town, and turn left onto Rt 212. The park is a half mile on your left. Look for the signs. Lots of open space, miles of pavilions, bathrooms, fresh cooked food with a good menu, shade, music. They do many car shows there, and this should be a great spot! Bring your friends!
•   For those spending the weekend with us, we will also use the park for Saturday evening cook-out and movie! Directions and information will be in your entry packet.
•   Friday evening check in (with cheese steaks again), and Saturday breakfast are still at the Hotel
•   We have released the un-taken rooms in our reserved block, but many are still available. Please reserve now.
•   To keep compliant, all attendees and guests will be given a special SHELBY face mask. Please wear when required and keep handy over the weekend.
•   Our Charity this year is the SANCUARY AT HAAFSVILLE, and they will be at the show. Please help us support them.
•   Please watch the event Facebook page on the LVPASAAC Page - https://www.facebook.com/events/2752760054744654?active_tab=about
•   Registration is still open – Sign up!!!!

BIG FIGHT TO MAKE IT WORK, BUT THINK WE HAVE IT!

Lots of changes, alterations, etc to keep us Covid Compliant, make the event still great, and probably improve the event!

Fri night event registration, Cheesesteaks, socializing still at the Hotel
Sat breakfast in new room, large, at hotel or under tent - still working on this.
Sat Tour - GREAT NEW ROUTE!! Spectacular views, ice cream of course
Sat night new more private location for dinner and movie, private pavillion, bathrooms

CAR SHOW - NEW LOCATION
Silver Creeek Athletic Association - FANTASTIC private park, huge field for show cars, huge pavillion, real bathrooms, kitchen food, this will be a great relocation!

So, stop procrastinating, we've made the changes to make it work, plenty of room to keep apart, and SPECIAL SHELBY MASKS for every entrant!!!

Join us, get out and enjoy one of the few Shelby shows that stood up and made it happen!

Hotel reserved block over half gone, GET YOUR ROOM!!!

For those who are within driving distance of central Pennsylvania, and missing your convention fix, there is another BIG event  to help your craving. Aside from my SAAC Region's Fall meet listed elsewhere in this forum.

Fords at Carlisle is the biggest Ford themed event east of the Mississippi, and never disappoints. Special displays, acres of cars and parts, it's a mecca.

The Team Shelby event ends at Carlisle, and combines their car show with Carlisle. But the two previous days are going to be great this year. I am helping organize, and can tell you first hand, it will be FUN! Thursday is open track as POCONO Raceway, with special Shelby only run groups. Ferrari will also be there. Thursday night events at Mt. Airy Casino, and Friday is a poker run from the casino to Carlisle, all back roads, all curvy.  Lunch is a very special stop at a Drag Racing museum that is rich in Cobra Dragonsnake history. Friday night events in Carlisle.

So, take a look, have some fun, just enjoy the cars and folks. I'll be on track Thurs with my FFR I bet none of you can keep up.....

We're going to try an experiment in mass chaos, and do a ZOOM club meeting next Monday night. The club will buy a few months of the program, so it won't cost much, and we'll have no time limit, gives a chance to get everyone logged in, and allow time to go over everything. I will e-mail out the script before the meeting, so everyone will see what is to be discussed. As well, if there are new items to bring up, it can be added in advance, so less confusion during the video conference, since there could be a bunch of us on!

I'll e-mail out the ZOOM invites to the current e-mail list, it is for all paid 2020 club members. If you know of anyone else not on the list, or should be on with us, please e-mail me in advance.

I'll go live at 7:00 PM, give some time to get everybody logged in, and we can play "Brady Bunch" for a little bit. At 7:30, I'll ask for silence (or mass mute if you mis-behave~!), and run a meeting directly off the script. We'll go over the Regional meet as well, bring everybody up to speed, and those that want to serve on the committee, we'll have a separate video call at a later date, when more information is available.

Please have at least one slice of pizza in hand, your favorite beverage, a used 50/50 ticket, a door prize, and your favorite club T-shirt on!

Hoping this can be a fun experience, I'm expecting nothing but laughs and chaos!

My best,

Dan Reiter

To all Lehigh Valley Region SAAC Members;

In these unique times, anything car club related  has been halted for now, as we are required to under the current guidelines. But, the club is still active, planning events, and looking to the future once we all can resume being social, and get back to Normal (ish). Thank you for your patience, optimism, and hope for a happy future.

I am preparing an update letter to be sent to all paid 2020 club members, to bring everyone up to speed on plans, events, and more. It will go out on an e-mail blast. If you have let your membership lapse, renew quick, so you can get this. It will have info not available on this and other sites.

If we want to try a club video chat one night, it could be fun, chaotic, and absolutely nuts!

My warmest regards to all, please keep safe, and be as optimistic as I am. I want to see all of you once this is over.

My very best,
Dan Reiter
