Hi all,

This attached photograph was taken in 1977 at Portland International Raceway (PIR), where SAAC 17 was held in 1992.  Does anyone recognize the car? and is it a genuine GT350?  It looks like it could be. The two people standing in the photo are Norton Gaston and owner (GT350 owner) Dennis Howell (Name on car.).  Dennis is not shown in the 2011 Registry owner index.  Is this an MIA car?  It is also rumored this car is now vintage racing in California and the unknown current owner based in Sacramento.   Several of us are trying to ID the car.  Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi all,

Be advised, I expect these wheels in the attached auction (eBay No. 374524031957) by MustangMasters428 of  fame are actually the Mopar wheel with the near 4 inch backspacing.  The seller was clever to not provide well images to confirm 100%, but the two attached images outlining the differences suggest Mopar.  A fellow SAAC member and I sent a note to the seller about the back spacing with no reply, further suggesting Mopar.  If they were legit, the seller would have included the back spacing dimensions.  He has too much other details to not include, unless deliberately absent.

Get the back spacing from the seller as 3.375 before even considering these wheels.  Then there are the condition issues to consider.

Hope this helps.

On the Mustang 428 Cobra Jet site, they show two version of the 428 Cobra Jet harmonic balancer.  "...The A2 damper is slightly heavier (6.9 lbs. vs. 6.3 lbs.) and has a thicker (0.75" vs. 0.55") outer ring as compared to the A1 damper. They both have the same 7" outside diameter..."  Can anyone help me understand why Ford engineered two versions under the same part number C8AZ-6316-B?  The CJ site has received input from 428 CJ owners, claiming both A1 and A2 balancers have been found on the 68 Cobra Jet cars.  Are they both equally right?

I checked on the Ford MPC, and it provides no additional information for the two versions, both the June 1968 and May 1975 printing.  The 1975 MPC shows D2TZ-6316-A.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / HERTZ Sports Car Club glasses
February 18, 2023, 08:52:19 PM
Hi all,

I have come across a different version of the Hertz Sports Car Club glasses. Typical glasses have the club logo on a gold background with the checkers, wheel and lions in black.  This other version, which I have not seen before,  is a negative version with background in black and the other elements in gold.  Is this other version early, late or maybe a different supplier?

Typical version on left,  other version on right in attached image.

Hi all,

I was reading on the Virginia Mustang Blog thread on the heater delete and there is a comment from a fellow hobbyist that described a speaker delete with the radio delete.  He said "... and has the gray cardboard blanks for both defroster openings and for the speaker hole..."  I have read the defroster covers are the same shape as the cardboard end of the ducts.  My question is:  What shape is the speaker delete cover?  Is it the same shape as the speaker and made from similar material to the glove box cardboard?  Does anyone have one and can post an image?

Below is the link:

I posted a similar question years ago.  Here is the link https://www.saacforum.com/index.php?topic=7906.msg66064#msg66064     Any new info?

Thanks

Hi all, I had a horn button that was missing a piece that holds sticker emblem in place.  I had my son model and print me a new version. He printed two. I have an extra if someone needs it. Five dollars and I'll send first class USPS letter.  See attached image.  The printed version is on the right.  Please send me instant message if you're interested.

Parts For Sale / Hand brake warning light wiring NOS
November 11, 2022, 09:48:59 PM
Hi all,

(Sale Pending 11-22-22)

I have here is a 1966 Ford hand/emergency/parking brake light signal warning NOS wiring.  It came out of a parking brake signal lamp kit C60Z-15A852-A for  Fairlane or Falcon.  With the adapter shown, it can also be used for Mustang.  The switch is long gone and the chrome bezel it's going to a friend with a 1966 GT350H. What's left is the NOS wiring. I hope someone can use it. I'd like $39 plus the ride. If you've priced these on popular auction sites, you will find the entire kits are hundreds of dollars.  If you just need the wiring, here's an inexpensive way to acquire it. If you're interested please send me a message.
Thank you

Hi all,

Shelby Parts and Restoration, when restoring the rear drums, puts a fresh machining on the outer edge.  Does anyone know why they are machined to begin with?  I am assuming just to round out the casting, but just this edge.  What's wrong with the rough casting?  The rest of the outside is rough.  Any ideas?  Maybe to get a better balance and less counter weight?  See attached image.

Thanks

Hi all,

Years ago I purchase these handbrake cables not realizing they are only for 1965 GT350/Mustang.  1965 uses two separate cables and 1966 uses one longer version.  It is time for someone to put on a car.  See attached images.

I'd like $250 plus the ride.  Please send me a message if interested.

Thanks

Hi all,

I have a set of original 1965 or 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 racing lap belts. The tags are shot and unable to determine the manufacture, Ray Brown or lmpact.  I purchased years ago from Orlando Mustang. The belts likely came from a local Florida car that may have been a "barber  find".  The webbing is in beautiful shape, however the hardware will need help,  The long hooks are very corroded. The buckle parts are in decent shape and the middle adjusters are so-so. They will need restoration, with rechromed hardware, new tags and new leather fobs.  Asking $500 plus the ride. See attached images. Send me a message if you're interested. Thank you

Hi all,

I bought a nice deluxe wheel that had this used repop center cap.  I replaced with an original GT350 cap.  I am offering the repop cap for sale, but understand that it might be hard sale here.  I'd like $50 plus the ride.  I am not sure of the vintage.  I have seen new caps, retail between $99 (Out of stock) up to $162.  Please see attached images and send me message for more info or if interested.  Buy as a spare to put on during a car show so if anyone wants to liberate you of your very nice original steering wheel cap, they get a repop.

Thanks

Hi all, I have an original 1966 GT 350 rotunda mirror that the original reflective glass popped out and fortunately did not break.  I'm planning to use that mirror on another Rotunda mirror with broken glass with nice chrome. I had two replacement mirrors made from the same glass material as the original.  One placed in painted Rotunda mirror.  The other in lower right in image. The original is lower left in image for comparison.  I have an extra one if anybody needs one. I'd like $40 plus shipping. If there's interest I can have more mirrors made.  I will look into it. Please let me know.

Hi WASAAC guys,

What's the story on this car?  Notice the absent "H" in the side stripe.  Do you suppose this was done back in the late 60's to lesson the attention to it being an ex-rental?  I have heard that the "H" designation was removed from some cars to this very end.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK3yYcNkyx0

One of the comments on the thread was "I think this car used to sit in Lakewood, Washington about 15 years ago. I remember seeing a black and gold Shelby in a guy's driveway that looked just like this with faded stripes and all...."

Appeals / Vacuum line beaded end type
September 17, 2022, 09:49:47 PM
Hi all,

Can any advise how to make this beaded end on a 3/8 rigid vacuum tube for power brakes.  I am having trouble finding the right tool and is this the correct name for the tubing end type?

Thanks

Hi all,

Could not find a source for these dots, so I tried making them myself.  They are close to the OEM dot, but if anyone has a better source, please let me know.

Thanks

Hi all,

Is there a vendor left that still sells the 65-68 Mustang foam heater seal kit with the OEM foam?  I am finding many sell the Dennis Carpenter kit which is made from a more solid duration foam.  The OEM foam is more of an open cell.  In the attached image, you can see the OEM style foam.  The vendor that has this image now sells the Dennis Carpenter kit.  So their website image no longer matches the product they send.   I am hoping to find a vendor that still sell the OEM material.  Please advise.

Thanks

Hi all,

I am working on a FE distributor and discovered the three nylon buttons between the two plates are missing.  Please see attached images from another FE distributor, how I discovered they were missing.  Can anyone advise where to find these buttons.  I expect they are also common to the small block distributors.

Thanks

Hi all,

Can someone advise on the correct spare tire mounting plate/disc for either 10 spoke or Magnum 500 wheel.  I was under the impression it is the small disc maybe without the three tabs.  The attached image shows the smaller disc with the three tabs bent out.
Thanks

Hi all,

I was looking up the thread size on the screw for the gas pedal (1/4 -28) to clean up the threads with the correct die.  On the AMK site they show a retainer along with the screw.  I had not seen before.  What is the purpose of this retainer once the pedal is installed and the screw tighten to the linkage bell crank?  I can see a purpose if the screw is loose attached to the pedal and the retainer to secure to pedal, but once it is installed what is the purpose?

Thanks
