I looked at a 67 that hasn't run for years and has been sitting since 1976
Might this trunk mat be original?
C7ZZ
Thoughts?
67's didn't use that pattern ( color)
It has C7ZZ stamped on her..
What application would it be for then?
😁
See this thread link below, as noted in another reply not the correct Plaid pattern on the one you located...

I recall that thread JD...
Actually, I was excited seeing a car last registered in 1976 with a C7ZZ trunk mat...
Just wondering then what did this mat original go into?
Is the car a Shelby (San Jose) built car, is it a fastback or other body?
The red in the trunk doesn't look like Candy Apple - is it or is it another Mustang color?
The car is a 67 500
....But it's been repainted to red
was it originally dark blue?
I think its a repaint ;D
interesting number ;-)

Not seeing the rest of the mat and only going by the picture the pattern on the mat appears like what you would find in 68-70 . I would be a little surprised to find a C7ZZ sticker or stencil on it instead of the typical C8 marking but stranger things have happened .In any event it is a service replacement mat in the 67.
In your pictures you don't clearly show any of the sewing of the corners so guessing it was not made with that detail. From what I've got it appears that all three plants in 67 used plaid for the fastback trunk mats. The following year we see the introduction of this other provider and their speckled mats as well as the felt ones.
Given what we have I would say that its likely a service replacement made with the C7 part number by the company that provided the 68 mats also. Would not be unusual for a company making parts to supply the assembly plant or plants to also make service replacements to what ever specifications Ford outlined in the contract.
Think the application is correct as a service part but not original IMO. If it were original then we would have likely found others of the same design. Not like a shipment would only be a few hundred shipped to San Jose.
Thanks Guys. .
There's no sewing ..
I see the C7ZZ clearly....
I'm guessing it's a service replacement then.
Thank you again..

I believe that is a safe guess. ;)
Here are some 1967 and 1968 trunk mats I got out the other day. The plaid are 67, and the other (felt and speckled) are 68. None have a cutout around the filler neck like the one in the post.
I hope everyone can understand finding a C7ZZ trunk mat in a 1967 Shelby that's been sitting for 49 years was an exciting moment...
FYI I have seen numerous examples over the years of the plaid 67 style mat being used on early production 68 Shelby's and Mustang's on survivor type cars. Apparently their use extended after job 1 for a while.

I hope finding out that it was a replacement didn't diminish your excitement too much. The speckled mat oddity marked with a C7ZZ engineering number instead of a C8ZZ was very interesting in it's own rite.
