The Shelby American (Summer 2022)

Summer 2022 30 The SHELBY AMERICAN Does Young find this stuff, or does it just find him? It appears that another 1/18 scale ‘67 Shelby GT350 model is avail- able, this time from Auto World and Hemmings . It will cost you $99.95. Another Young find. Ultimate Garages in Naples, Florida produced this classy 8 1/2˝ x 5 1/2˝ postcard to promote their business. Of course Young glommed onto a handful of these and has been passing them around like he was a dot-com billionaire and they were hundred-dollar bills. Randy Sands spotted the shadow of Carroll Shelby on this picture of a ‘65 GT350 in a Facebook ad. Looks like something out of the ”Twilight Zone” to us. Shelby makes an appearance from beyond the grave? Sands found this casino poker chip on the Internet. We recall seeing these back in the early 2000s when we were holding events in Las Vegas. We haven’t seen one in a while. Accel had a marketing campaign about twenty years ago that used a 427 Cobra replica in it. Sands spot- ted one photo used in an ad. We re- call an Accel calendar, too. Do your part to fight Covid with this Daytona Coupe face mask. Available in England, in case you were wonder- ing, they’re about $16 ea (US). Spotted by, appropriately enough, Dr. Warren. For half that price they have a Day- tona Coupe snood. Warren saw this ‘67 Shelby pic- tured in a Morton Building web- site. It was included in the section of “Hobby shops” – free-standing buildings aimed at car collectors.
