The SHELBY AMERICAN S AA C Sweepstakes – Do You Feel Lucky? Well, Do You Punk? Carroll Shelby once said, “ If some is good, more is better and too much is just enough .” He could have been re- ferring to SAAC’s 2022 sweepstakes car, this ERA Twin Paxton Super- charged monster. It’s a replica of Shelby’s “Super Snake” 427 Cobra, CXS3015... without the hideous hood scoop. The elves at Cobra Automotive have devised a way to mount the Pax- tons lower on the engine, allowing the use of the stock Cobra hood and hood scoop, maintaining the classic lines of the 427 Cobra S/C. ERA #704 is a one- owner car. The engine has been stroked to 454 cubic-inches because, well, 427 didn’t seem like enough. Edelbrock aluminum heads are part of the pack- age. Horsepower? The dyno only goes so far and this was off the scale. Suf- fice it to say it’s “ just enough ” – more than you will ever be able to use in your lifetime. But still, it’s comforting to know it’s there. It’s finished in a Deep Metallic Blue. Transmission is a Tremec TKO600 five-speed attached to a Jaguar independent rear suspen- sion with inboard discs.
