The SHELBY AMERICAN Summer 2022 14 Right after taking delivery of his new 2020 Ford GT, the owner commis- sioned former Chief Designer of the second-generation 2005-06 Ford GT, Camilo Pardo, to come up with a unique livery to reflect the car’s GT40 ancestry. Pardo received a second re- quest from another Ford GT owner in Utah for a similar commission. The re- sult were two cars based on the 1966 LeMans second place car, #P1015 en- tered by Shelby American, driven by Ken Miles/Dennis Hulme, designated by Pardo as “2020 Miles Ford GT” and third place car, #P1016 entered by Holman-Moody, driven by Ronnie Bucknum/Dick Hutcherson, desig- nated by Pardo as the “Atomic Gold HM GT”. For the Holman-Moody car, Pardo worked exclusively with Ford GT paint supplier Axalta Paints to deter- mine the color, “Atomic Gold.” Details keyed to the original #P1016 include pink front fender flashes and right rear fender diamond and race number 5. Wheels were chosen exclusively for the Pardo cars, five-spoke 20” dia. HRE wheels. They were painted mid- green, in a respectful nod to the simi- larly-colored Halibrands used on the original car. With only 975 miles, the Atomic Gold HM GT is available for sale, as per Ford’s 2-year prohibition on selling new GTs. It is being offered by Collec- tor’s Garage in Grosse Point, Michigan for $1,200,000. The latest ‘05 Ford GT owner to cash out is Robert James Ritchie. You probably know him as Kid Rock, a singer and musician whose style alter- nates between rock, hip hop, country and heavy metal. He’s the original owner of his ‘05 Ford GT. He’s only put 3096 miles on it. The buyer will also get an autographed guitar. The Kid is probably best known for his half-time show at Superbowl-38 back in 2004. He was also married, for about a year, to actress, model and an- imal rights activist Pamela Anderson. You might remember her for her ap- pearances in Playboy (including as February 1990’s Playmate the month). It’s not known how many of those 3096 miles on the GT are hers. The car sold for $638,000 at RM Sotheby’s auction in Ft. Lauderdale in March.
