The Shelby American (Fall 2021)

MK I entered by Alan Mann Rac- ing, Walt Hans- gen and Mark Donohue in MK II P/1016 and Miles and Ruby in GT 110. At the start, Gurney took two minutes to get his car started and moved off in next- to-last place which left him, shall we say, “motivated”. He passed 26 cars in the first couple of laps, setting a lap record in the process (despite the traffic) and he was in the lead after 90 minutes. The Ferraris came up to 2nd and 4th but faded later. Meanwhile Miles and Ruby were maintaining 3rd OA in the MK II roadster and then 2nd OA with the de- mise of the works Ferrari P3 on lap 170.
