The Shelby American (Fall 2021)
covered all the Shelby paperwork in Shelby’s attic in Gardena. It was a big moment in my life when Ned Scudder phoned to tell me he had located the Metro Ford shipping invoice for the car and we finally knew the serial number: CSX3257. I still remember Ned saying, ‘The funny part is I know the car, and the owner only lives 50 miles from me.’ ” The Pfeifers went on to promote public awareness of the plight of chee- tahs, beautiful animals that are headed towards extinction in the wild, and had adopted a pair. Unfortunately, our story does not have a Disney end- ing, for Earl and Carol are no longer a couple. What a shame, because they were both passionate in all their en- deavors – fast cars, fast food, and fast animals. CSX2100, on the other hand, is living a beautiful, retired life in Carmel by the Sea with current owner Jon Hagstrom, who recently sent Earl an email with an update - he had re- placed the original leather seats. I guess nothing lasts forever. The SHELBY AMERICAN CSX2100 Fall 2021 104
