So sorry for your loss. And, what a great pic to share - thanks.

6S289

If you would allow me to say...

It was an honor to "represent", if you will, the Shelby brand recently. 6S289 was 1 of 17 of the 2019 Muscle Car of the Year Finalist for the Good Guys organization from their car shows across the nation. 6S289 was not awarded the Muscle Car of the Year but we feel top 17 wasn't too bad.

The photo below is the award given to 6S289. I wanted to honor 6S289's heritage, so I placed my mom's well-worn keys for 6S289 on the left and the Comp Press & AutoWeek's key chains my parents received when they purchased 6S289 in August 1967 - over 52 years ago - on the right.

The photo below is of 6S289 from the Good Guys website - hat tip to Good Guys for the photo.

It's that time of year to take 6S289 out on the wet roads and enjoy drifting around in the mud. So much fun.

Just kidding...this is 6S289 with the iconic G.T.350 badge covered with mud from probably the 1967-68 winter timeframe.
Dad / Mom - what were you thinking?

6S289 now stays nice and dry. No more mud runs.
That Cragar (along with the other four original wheels) stay nice and clean as well.

Given the polyglas tires didn't come out until late 68 It would more likely be 68/69 winter timeframe.

Thanks for the info, Bob.
This photo is undated, but it is from a group of family photos from the '67 - '69 time frame.

Theses tires are some of the most visually pleasing to me. 👍🏻

As a follow-up to my prior post about 6S289 being a Good Guys 2019 Muscle Car of the Year Finalist - below is the Good Guys magazine article...
I regard this as a tribute to my family and mainly my dear mom.
Thanks all for your kind words in the posts about our family car.

We are to be out only for essential reasons - but I figured that a quick drive with 6S289 for a quick wheel turning/fluid flowing and celebration of the arrival of Spring would be ok. I stayed at least 6' away from all of the other cars on the freeway.

Everybody be safe and healthy through the COVID-19 crisis.

May God bless you all.

Such a great story line and a genuine legacy passed from one generation to the next.  You are a great caretaker for this automobile.

I feel the same way uncovering/discovering passed history on my car. 1967 #861.  Previously very little was known, but now pics and info back to 1968 with all three owners alive and contacted.
