Well, my initial thoughts were that yeah, you could put a 3.5" stroke crank in 'and' move the rings down "some" from the piston deck; both being particularly advantageous for a "big-port" Cleveland cylinder head.    8)

    Scott.

No I get that, I'm relating my comment to "Free" horsepower, there is no free, it all at cost..... isn't it.

Speed costs money. How fast can you afford to go? Pretty much covers it all.

I did not know that hipo caps have to be matched to the block. Being serious here.  Interesting. I have to look up the other terminology. Been busy installing a desert rad. This other stuff is beyond my pay grade as the saying goes.

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

The main caps get installed and then the whole thing is line bored. That's why it's important to keep the mains (and rod caps) on used engines in their original location and orientation.
The "Mexican" block is pretty much a myth. It's cast out of poorer materials than an original HiPo block. If you are going to change them go with steel ones.
