Here is a really cool photo (3-1/2 x 3-1/2) that I acquired recently.  It's from March 1967 and shows a group of 3 people either picking up or returning a 1966 Hertz Shelby (with Magnum 500 wheels) at a Hertz rental facility.  Notice the advertising sign in the background.  Does anyone recognize this facility?  Looks pretty unique.

I don't think they are picking it up or returning it. Merely standing by a car with an advertising sign on the roof.
Is the original sharp enough you can read the plate on the car in the background.

It is oakland international airport. Just compare the pictures.

If it starts it's streetable.
Overkill is just enough.

You're right!  The sign is actually attached to the top of the car.  I initially thought it was larger and was across the way.  I think the bottom line reads "The 'H' is for HERTZ".

You would think I would know that living about 50 miles away!  It's been a long, long time since I've been to that airport.  I was researching Hertz rental facilities active in the 60's but didn't get a hit on one that looked like that.  Thanks for the pics!

That airport must have been really small at that time. Nice catch.

Still is. But it's quicker to fly into Oakland then take a bus to the BART station into downtown SF - at least it was 25 years ago.

Looks like they were having trouble with the decorative cement falling on passengers so they added a secondary roof. At LAX when the theme restaurant had the same problem they just stopped parking cars under it and swept up the debris regularly.

Agreed, in comparison to many others, but it doubled from what it was not too long ago.  Try never to use SFO  especially since there is Oakland and Sac. Only used SFO for a couple of international and only San Jose a few times. Plenty to choose from in the area.

I currently live about 50mi away in Brentwood but used to live and work less than 10mi from the airport. Where do you live?
